NATIONAL PALACE - SWAN HALL
by LoriPori
In Manueline style SWAN HALL or Sala dos Cisnes, named because of the swans painted on the ceiling.
Sign for Swan Hall reads:
"Original Grand Hall of Royal residence of Joao I, built at the beginning of the 15th century. During the reign of Manuel I it was designated Hall of the Princes. The tile revetment and ceiling date from this period, but were restored following the earthquake of 1755"

It could be a nightlife tip, but's a bit more than that. In Azoia, near Sintra, there's the bar called "Moinho D.Quixote" i really like. You can go there for a night drink, it's a cool place with a wide range of style-decoration. But i love to go there on a sunny late morning... They have kind of a backyard-splanade (well, it's not a garden) a bit of a labyrinth, with cool tables wondefull corners from where you can be delighted with the view. The ocean.
The address is: Road of Cabo da Roca, Azóia Tel: 21 9292523. Open: 12pm-2am
Sintra and it's designations
by ginguba
Sintra, anciently for some known as "sacred hill" (monte sagrado), "hill of the moon" (monte da lua). Described "as the village immersed on the mist that won't scatter". The "Glourious Eden" of Lord Byron. Sintra, the priveliged residence of Kings and nobles. A paradisiac retreat for monks and eremites. Inspirating muse for poets, writers, musicians and painters. Sintras has been known and talked about for centuries. So many people has known it, and yet so many mysteris it hides!...

I was expecting to take some pictures of the palace's rooms but unfortunately we had to delivery our cams to the guards at the room's entrance. So the only thing I did was take some pictures outside.
Please see the travelogue to see some of the pictures I took. Hope you enjoy it.
Sintra Festivals
by keeweechic
The Sintra Festival is held during June and July and is a feast for music lovers. There are usually around 12 concerts which are held in venues such as palaces and churches as well as at estates and in parks. Most of the program is made up of the romantic period piano pieces as well as some ballet and opera.
Also during June is Sao Pedro’s annual festival which features crafts, dance exhibitions, serenades, music competitions and a cattle show.
