Chinese Restaurant

by maggsg

I am taking a group to Fatima and I would like to know if there are some good Chinese restaurants nearby that will take groups.

Re: Chinese Restaurant

by solopes

There are two chinese restaurants in Fatima:

Si Hâi
R Rainha St Isabel Lote 4-lj 2-B, Cova Iria FÁTIMA
+351 249 532 056

Chen Jianjun
Estrada Ourém 12/4-lj E-Q, FÁTIMA
+351 249 531 858

There are two alternatives in Leiria, 17 km away, the first of them accepting groups:

Kou Cang Leiria
Avenida Nossa Senhora Fátima 58, Leiria
+351 244 822 060

Ming Yuan
R Paulo VI 2183, Vale Colmeia-Marrazes LEIRIA
+351 244 831 841

The other solutions are more distant. But... excuse-me: bringing someone to Portugal and skipping the great Portuguese food will it be a good idea?

Enjoy
Avelino

Thank you for the information. I do agree with you about trying the Portugese food, but this group is from China and they have requested their own kind of food. Once again the info is much appreciated.

Travel Tips for Fátima

ex-voto

by call_me_rhia

Just before rwaching the hapel of the apparitions, in the corner, there's a sort of shrine where people bring wax objects as ex-votos, to be burned. One common votive gift, beside was candles, are casts of the afflicted body part (especially hands and legs): by burning them, pilgrims request healing for that part of the body

the esplanade

by call_me_rhia

the Esplanade is supposed tobe monumental: it's vast, wide, it's surrounded by a beautiful colonnade, there's an imposing flight of steps, there are Stations of the Cross in polychrome ceramic designs but... well, once its devoid of people it looks like a huge parking lot (I really thought it was one, at first). When full of pilgrims it should be a great sight - empty on a rainy day it looks very sad.

"Fátima"

Fátima tornou-se mundialmente conhecida pelas aparições marianas aos três pastorinhos (Lúcia, Francisco Marto e Jacinta Marto) que aí tiveram lugar entre 13 de Maio e 13 de Outubro de 1917, no lugar da Cova da Iria. A construção do Santuário de Fátima trouxe desenvolvimento ao local, logrando ser elevada a cidade em 12 de Julho de 1997.
