Travel Tips for Setúbal

Mercado do Livramento

by global84

If you walk along Avenida Luísa Todi, the city's main thoroughfare, you will encounter familiar smells of fish, coming from a large pink-colored building. This is the city's main market, Mercado do Livramento, where you can buy any kind of food in the best condition. Any time of the day, the market is busy and bustling with the locals, as well as some tourists. Go through the entrance where you can see the azulejo panels on both sides of the wall, then walk around the market to feel the local life. If you are a person who is more into learning a local life than visiting musems, this is the right place for you!

Branco's Setubal Page

by Branco

Setubal is one of Portugal's largest cities set on the right bank of the Sado River. Said to have been founded by the grandson of Noah it is famous for Moscatel wines and sardines, but also for its Port and the shipyard Setenave (extension of Lisnave, in Lisbon one largest on Europe). Grapes from this region have been praised since the days of the Roman's and Visigoths. You will also find orange and cork groves as well as sunny beaches (Troia, for example, in the other bank of the river is wonderful).
