Travel Tips for Viana do Castelo
The north of Portugal is the most traditionalist of all the Portuguese regions. Minho has also the most beautiful tarditional costumes. Aware of that, the city's celebrations are a very good opportunity to see and feel it.
PS - I think that almost ninety per cent of the Portuguese folk recreations abroad use the costumes and dances of this area.

The Gerês is a protect region. You have here many typical animals and flora, that doesn't exist in any other place. Some parts are so protected that it is forbiden to stop the car and not even think to pick up a flower!
The northern Top
The most northern city in the coast, Viana do Castelo is a reference in naval construction, and in traditional food and costumes. Santa Luzia is the city's highlight, but travelling around is an opportunity to find some beautiful almost unspoilt places
Pousada de S.Bento
With a breathtaking view of the river Cávado and Caniçada.
The beautiful monastery of St. Bento, where we go, by foot, almost every day, from Pousada de S. Bento.
It's about 5 or 6 Km, climbing up!!! Ouffff! I only think that it was good to compensate all the delights I couldn't resist...
