HOTEL DOURO: Hotel Douro (Pinhão) very good.
We are in the Pinhão...
Pinhão is a village from the Alijó County, located on the right side of the Douro River. This little town is also one of the most beautiful places of Portugal.
The peaceful village has an area of about 300 acres.
Pinhão is 17 kilometres far from the county seat Alijó and 38 kilometres from the capital of the district, Vila Real. The toponymy of Pinhão is justified by the fact that you can find there the junction of the Pinhão River, which is an affluent of the Douro. Pinhão is located on the very heart of the Upper Douro Region. It`s a village where the astonished landscape is dominated by the mountain, shaped in terraces all along the Douro River. The quality and the good reception of our house make the difference.

Residencial Douro: A good affordable option in Pinaho
Please note I did not necessarily stay in this property, however I walked past it many times and had a chance to see the same friendly lady with a very clean apron taking care of the front of the hotel and chatting with guests. The hotel looked clean and friendly and had a restaurant adjacent to it. I am calling it a hotel, it's probably more of a hostel - but see the website for yourself.
Unique Quality: The hotel is across the street from the Douro and the train station. What caught my attention was the clean look in the outside and as previously mentioned, the very clean aspect of the people working at the hotel. Everyone looked friendly. CS Vintage House: Pinhao's Hidden Treasure
The CS Vintage House is the perfect base to explore the Douro area, go hiking, visit vineyards, sail on the Douro, have a good swim, or just sit back and enjoy the view and tranquility.
The rooms are very clean, grounds nicely kept, staff is attentive. The small town of Pinhao is also easy to cover on foot. Here you will find other restaurants, groceries, ATM's, and other bars. It is a very small town, but picturesque and offering many facilities.
Food at the restaurant is excellent, and enjoying a meal in the patio is an experience not to be missed.
Unique Quality: One of the things that attracted me to the hotel were the views of the Douro and the vineyards. Although I am not 100% certain, it seems as if all the room have views of the Douro, however, it is clear when you select the reservation that you will have a Douro view.
The swimming pool area is inviting. The entire hotel is the type of place you enjoy exploring.
The front staff is excellent and will help you plan your stay. If you don't have transportation they can arrange for a driver, or they can suggest places to visit by train or bus. They can also help you plan a good hike, or find a guide to go hiking. It is best to email them to get some of the arrangements made before your arrival.
They also have rabelo boats right outside the hotel - the excursions leave around 10:30 in the morning and last about two hours, with a stop in a restaurant half-way where you can enjoy a glass of port.

Vintage House: Great hotel on the river bank
Right on the bank of the Douro River, is the vintage House. This is a first class hotel, with an amazing restaurant. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are very romantic (we had a terrace overlooking the River and pool) And it's small enough to be charming. It's location is perfect for visiting the port wine vineyards, or tooling around the region. Since there isn't much to do in the town, I highly recommend making a reservation at the hotel restaurant for dinner. it's perfect!
