Hi,
There are an hotel close to the Aeroport. I suppose you can ask in the information desk how to get there...

But, also, there are a metro line from the aeroport to the Porto city and in about 35 minutes you can get there - Trindade station is the most central. The metro line is okay and the time table, usually, is very accurate so you just have to take care about the time to your flight, the aeroport line is line E:

I live near the Airport.

I look on booking for you and I think is easier if you see it http://www.booking.com/hotel/pt/pedras-rubras.html?aid=317224;sid=560132ba39f7b5388adf4bb4dd6e9751

It a nice hotel and it is right across the street from the airport! You also have a metro station right in front that takes you at the city centre in about 30 minutes :)

Have a great stay!

Travel Tips for Porto

divide between the rich and the poor

by el_ruso

Portugal more than most places in Western Europe still exhibits a big divide between the classes. You will see both mansions on the West and the poor tenement buildings in the East of the city if you have time and inclination to explore outside of the Ribeira.

you must go to the oporto wine...

by raxe

you must go to the oporto wine stores and taste the good wine. see de oporto bridges and lunch a food called
'francesinhas'. on 24 june we have a good party in the city
where all the oporto people came to the streets with a plastic hammer in order to hit in the heads of all people. the view from the brigdes and the Portuguese sun.

tiny doors

by arasnosliw

Take a look at the doors on the houses in Ribeira. I'm not quite sure about the history of these doors. They are tiny. When I visited Évora, I was told that tiny doors were characteristic of old Jewish quarters. Could this potentially be the same here in Porto?

All I can say is you better not be a giant, or else you're not going to be able to fit through these doorways!

Mercado do Bolhão

by pel

Another high place in Porto is the downtown market. ITs lively colors and the merchants way of dealing are unique to this city.

Try to bargain a piece of fruit or some other article with them. Or simply have a look around and taste the diferent scents that the market has to offer you.

Open weekdays from 8am till 5pm and Saturdays from 8am till 1pm.

EURO 2004 - BESSA XXI STADIUM - BOAVISTA F. C:

by IneXisTenZ

The stadium of the “checked shirts” ..... but there’s no puzzle!!

Did you know that Boavista Futebol Clube was the only club that never stopped playing at its own ground, even when the new Bessa XXI Stadium was being built? Well, it’s true! In fact, in keeping with its traditions, Boavista is the only Portuguese Club whose ground has always been the same since the foundation of the team, known as the “checked shirts”. The new stadium has been built entirely from scratch, literally “on top” of the former Bessa stadium (originating from 1972) and it is located in an important, busy area of Porto, Boavista, a residential district with several schools. In this “chic” area, “The Boavista Footballers ” first came into being at the start of the 20th Century, originating from the great passion for football shared between the Portuguese and the local English residents. In fact, this ancestral link between Boavista and the English has had an influence on the design of the present-day building, where preference has been given to the height of the structure, resulting in a ground whose architecture is reminiscent of that of the old English stadiums. And, either with or without English inspiration, evidence of innovation is to be found everywhere, both inside and outside the ground. The Bessa XXI Stadium is part of a much vaster sports complex that includes a gymnasium and sports pavilion (currently under construction), tennis courts, training pitches, etc.. Four new stands have been built, one of which – the northern stand – houses four gymnasiums. All of them are covered The Bessa XXI Stadium is one of two “monuments” – amongst many others – that give the city its distinctive appearance, standing proudly alongside the famous Antas Stadium , the “home” of Futebol Clube do Porto.

Capacity: 30.000 covered seats
