Lovely place to stay in Porto
This is a wonderful hotel in a fantastic location right in the center of Porto. Next time I go to Porto I will definitely stay here. The people working there were really friendly, helpful and flexible, and the train station (Sao Bento) / metro station are just across the road.
The hotel has many different types of rooms, from cheap & cheerful to elegant. Whoever furnished this hotel obviously loves antique furniture and every room is worth peeking into just to admire the furniture alone! Buffet breakfast is included in the price of the room.
The azulejos in pictured here are located in the hotel lobby - lovely!

Good, basic accomodation
Nothing fancy. Clean and well kept. Small, functional rooms. Seperate large breakfast room, serving the basics.Close to the train station, Liberation Square, and the Ribiera. They claim to have to oldest working elevator in Portugal. Lovely tile work in the lobby. I believe it. If you're looking for something basic, this is the place.

Hotel Peninsular.
I forget but not much over £20 for two beds in triple room.
Unique Quality: Could not be more convenient. Very friendly and helpful - good English. Oldest lift in Porto - great. Fairly cheap and breakfast included. If you manage to avoid spilling your breakfast drink when pouring, let me into the secret! We failed on the three mornings we were there.
