The Sandeman logo
by MarioPortugal
Known as The Don, The Sandeman Port Wine & Sherry Wine LOGO is considered to be the very first Wine-Logo internationally. The original painting , pictured on this tip, was finalized in 1928. Soon later it started to be used on the Sandeman wine labels.
The Logo, The Don, actually represents the culture of TWO Sandeman Wines, Port (produced in Portugal) & Sherry (produced in Spain).
The Don is the combination of the Portuguese University students cloak, originally from Coimbra (central Portugal), and the Spanish "caballeros" hat (traditional in the south of Spain).

Vila Nova de Gaia

Vila Nova de Gaia is on the other side of the Douro river (if you are in Porto). It has interesting places, restaurants and bars, so, you only have to cross D. Luis I bridge, and you are there (or here).
This first pic was taken from Porto.
This last pic was taken from the top of the D. Luis I Bridge.
