We 3 need a day driver for touring

by LindaNewby

On Nov. 29th we arrive and want to "see it all" with an English speaking driver (non smoker) in a full day trip. We three are travel agents and are looking to find a good resource for future guests as well.

At what point did you incorrectly assume we weren't paying guests? What a negative reply, no help at all!

Hello,
I live in Funchal and I can get you one or two contacts to match your visits on madeira, I advise you to visit around the island in two days (one day is very tiring), it is preferable to divide the island into two and knows it in two days.

Travel Tips for Funchal

A compact city centre.

by Jerelis

Funchal, the capital of the archipelago, combines well a cosmopolitan atmosphere (with numerous bars, hotels and casino) with its historical monuments, museums and a typical and colourful market. Everything can be explored by footh. Parking the car is no prblem at all. Have a look at the map of Funchal and see that all the major attractions are in the very compact city centre.

Talk to someone who knows!

by Jerelis

I guess we all agree on this on; there is nothing more exciting than going travelling - exploring another country, experiencing a different culture, travelling around in new ways, sampling the local cuisine and chatting to the local people for a different perspective on life.

However during our travels we learned that there is one certain thing that you should be aware of and prepared for to make sure that the trip is as easy and enjoyable as possible. We always try to see everything once we're there, but this is not always an act of responsible travelling. We always talk to the locals and we know that they have the information about just the right spots to visit and how to undertake them. It will not only enhance your experiences but also avoid any unnecessary hassles.

For us the travel tips we have written in this section made the most of our travel experience and we came home in the same happy, healthy state that we left.

Overlooking Funchal Promenade.

by Jerelis about Casa Madeirense

It's great to visit the Funchal Promenade. Just take a stroll from the Marino to the Forte de Sao Tiago for a great view of Funchal town and its bay. But not only walking around is great, it's maybe even better to sit on a terrace and watch the entire world go by. Hot sun, cold beer, my daughter and my beautiful wife next to me, what else could I ever wish for?

At the Promenade is a variety of places to eat, ranging from upmarket and overpriced restaurants to smaller places where the locals sit and eat. We sat down at Casa Madeirense as we were walking along the seafront and already saw all the chairs and tables out front and then we only needed to climb up some steps to reach it. We had a nice cold beer and the "Plate of the Day" for lunch. It was a peppersteak and loads of vegetables and fries. Can you believe it? It only costed 3.50 Euros!

Check out Marina

by Margrette

Every one that visits Funchal need to go to most characteristic spot, the Marina. Lot of restaurants there, yahts, and at one place I saw that some artists of the street:) singing and dancing every evening. If you like fishing maybe you can get an info about the possibilities to do it there. We saw a lot of locals fishing. Also if you want to go on a cruize or some boat trip, it is the place where all tour companies and small businesses are. Actually the guys with ready offers will find you themselves:)
It is place where all people go and well.... you will get there anyway:)
