Monte Palace Garden Statues
I love Monte's Tropical Garden. There's so much to discover. What about these statues? Cute aren't they! Well, I thought I'd share that with you!

We are in Funchal for one day (a Sunday) and want to go to Monte. My wife doesn't do cable cars so the idea is we take a bus. There seems to be a reasonable bus service but can anyone advise how long the bus trip takes.
I don't have the exact time but its only about 15-20 minutes by the town bus. If you look at most photos of Funchal that are taken from the seafront looking up at the town, the church at Monte is usually prominent - it's the white one with two towers situated centrally, high on the hillside above the town.

This lovely church of St Peters church is found at the top of Rua do Sturdo - a side road off Rua da Carreira. It had more appeal to me that the cathedral of Funchal.
And no there isn't a tree growing out of the spire its just the way the pic was taken!
In Portugal we use to say that "one image speaks more than 1000 words". Having that in mind, and more than 1000 pictures to post, I decided to change my behaviour, posting the pictures as soon as they are ready, and adding the comments later.
Don't get mad on me - I'm glad to share my pictures with you, and the comments will be added soon.
I have been on three walks whilst In Madeira, Ribeiro Frio to Portela, Pico de Areeiro (sorry if I spelt that wrong) and from Ilha to Caldeiro Verde.
The last one I did many years ago but remember an amazing waterfall at the end and a peaceful place to have a picnic.
Ribeiro Frio to Portelo, bring a rain mac, I remember getting wet and eating my picnic in the rain, on a clear day I'm sure you'd see some amazing views.
Between the highest peaks is the best one I have been to, the walk is tough (for me anyway) but the views you see during the walk are spectacular, I would highly recommend it. Bring some sun tan lotion as it can get pretty sunny.
