Hotel Quinta do Sol ****
"A charming and welcoming hotel, positioned in the midst of the five star units and surrounded by the beautiful Quinta Magnólia Park, the Quinta do Sol appeals to those seeking a little of traditional Madeira."
This is what their website promises. We'll report back after our return, so please be patient.
It was indeed a charming and welcoming hotel, ideally located between the hotel zone and the city centre (800m from the lido, 800m from the centre). The main building is a highrise and the rooms facing the street suffer from the street noises despite the double glazed windows. Rooms though are large and have all the modern facilities.
The newer annexe (connected to the old building by a gangway) is only 2 stories high and the rooms are very quiet. Large rooms with all modern facilities.
Unique Quality: Staff were very polite and helpful, both at the reception and in the restaurant and bars.
Everything was very clean and well kept.
There is a small garden with a pool area - towels are supplied free of charge.
There's also a roof terrace with sunbeds.
When we left they started renovation works at the fitness hall and whirlpool/sauna space.
There's a busstop right at the front door.
