 Hotel Eden Mar, Madeira by sailornappo
This Hotel is one of the PORTO BAY group (5 in Funchal) and staying in the Eden Mar one can use all the facilities of the even newer Hotel next door, as they both are connected inside and via beautiful gardens and pools. Even the breakfast can be had at either locations.
Choices of wonderful pools (in/outdoor connected via open doors to swim through, and even robes/towels for outside use are supplied), jacuzzies, extra children pools, lavish gardens with tropical flowers, a great buffet breakfast, excellent service, an abundance of comfy lawnchairs to use, pool-bar that serves lunches/ drinks, free folklore/music entertainment at nights, free internet in the lobby, numerous daily free shuttle trips to a variety of locations in Funchal (the driver even went out of his way in his big tourbus to drop us off at the casino).
As part of the whole complex is Timeshare, upon taking a tour of it one will be "rewarded" not only with a free lunch by the pool, but a EU 50.00 voucher which can be used towards any accumulated expenses at the Hotel.
All in all, a great place to relax, in quiet surroundings, yet only steps into town. One added feature is the large PINGO DOCE supermarket next door, which even has warm meals cooked on the premises and fresh baked goods and bread ready to take out and eat on your balcony with good (and cheap) local wine if one does not feel like going to one of the many restaurants just steps away from the hotel. Fabulous location with unlimited view on the Altlantic (Garajau marine reserve), the South-East coast and the Desertas Islands.

Great Manta Diving Center and diving sites around the Marine reserve - snorkeling is great too!
