St. Peters feast

Going to St. Peters feast is already a custom between the Madeirenses. In this festivity, in ends of June of 1879, the old tradition reappeared to take place. In a procession the small boat of St. Peter, brings the sacred and profane component, being later announced in 1883 the inclusion of the dance of the swords.

Pico da Cruz

Situated between a valley, Ribeira Brava has a magnificent viewpoint or miradouro, from where you can observe all the extension of the village, as well as the maritime coast, getting of this place magnificent landscapes.

Serra d'Agua

Its name derives from the construction of a primitive device destined to the cut of wood, name that, later extended to all the parish. The parish of Serra d'Agua, is situated in a extensive, deep and pressed valley, encircled by high mountains. The scenary is impressive as you can find.

Wild River

Ribeira Brava (wild stream) is a small town on the southwest coast of the island. Now a lot easier to access since the construction of the two-lane motorway from Funchal. The town boasts many street cafes and shops and is certainly the place to spend a few hours taking in the sights and sounds.

The town has made enormous progress in the last few years and has geared itself up to tourism. Many new facilities keep the locals "local" and the long sunshine hours on the west coast attract many bathing fans.
