pousada forte de sao sebastiao: a wonderful hotel
we stayed in this hotel for three days in august 2006
Unique Quality: This is, quite simply, the best hotel I've ever seen. It is built inside a wonderful castle commanding the bay of angra, with an unforgettable view over the ocean. Inside a military harness of centuries ago you can find the best contemporary design and architecture. Service and facilities along with courtesy are another pride of this hotel.

Pensão Ávila: Good location for a cheap price
When I booked this Guesthouse I had no information at all about the service and conditions. The owner, just said me they had a good service but basic conditions in an old house.
I must say, I appreciated a lot the quality of the service. The owners are very kind and helpful, and rooms are very clean.
Unique Quality: Location is very good, and is the ideal place if you are travelling on a budget. A double room, with shared bathroom, costs about 20 EUR.
From here, you can easily explore the city on foot.
They have a taxi service which costs only 15 EUR to the airport. Normally, this service costs between 17.5 and 20 EUR.

Hotel Beira Mar: As close as you can get
Set just above the marina, this hotel is very close to the city centre.
The rooms are not fantastic (***), but you have air conditioning and tv...
Unique Quality: Although I didn't try it, the hotel's restaurant is renowned for it's Sopa de Peixe, which is a fish soup served inside a big bread.
