Very friendly their goal is to please, was disapointed though upon arriving after a very long overnight flight to be told our room wouldn't be ready for another couple hours *yikes* don't know when check in is in the azores because the exact thing happened to us on our honey moon..I thought it was a fluke..guess not when we go back I will definatley make sure the room will be ready for when we arrive..they did however give us( my whole family came) a room where we could freshen up and place our luggage until the rooms were ready.
Unique Quality: Well the unique qualities might not be good ones but I've stayed at worse places
- no elevator you have to carry your luggage up and down stairs, we had a toddler that had to be carried up those stairs too..not good
-hotel parking was around the corner, well it was attached to a building beside it which the hotel also owns but it was gated in so we had to get the key from the front desk, get our car out, lock the gate, run back with the key and coming back from an excursion meant having to first go to the desk to get the key and driving around the block to get back to the lot..quite annoying.
-the hotel is situated right beside a park which is nice if you don't mind the homeless people who make it a habit of staying up drinking and singing all night.. we have to walk by this park to get to said parking lot and on more than one occasion was verbally attacked, once we complained to the desk the police showed up to move them away..oh and the garbage trucks run all night! at all hours my sister heard them dumping the cans..they don't attempt to be quiet at 3 am?!
-oh our shower leaked like crazy! there was always a pool of water on the floor
-my sisters room..the air conditioner leaked so they had a bucket in the middle of the room
-my brothers room the air never worked and the shower was aweful
even with all that my husband said he would stay there again..me on the other hand don't want to..yes it was a perfect location and the staff were friendly but it was too much nuisance for me
I know very well this hotel because a friend of mine is used to stay here, and I am used to have a lunch at the restaurant.
This building is located in the historical centre of the city. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, television satellite reception, video, radio, mini bar and telephone. They offer a great brekfast.
About the restaurant, I must say they offer a delightful variety of regional tastes (fish and seafood) side-by-side with international fare with a very good quality.
Unique Quality: A very good location.
A high quality restaurant.
Swimming pool.
Gymnasium.
One foot from here you will find Café Sports One and Tabacaria Açoriana.

I'll be off to Ponta Delgada in a couple of weeks for a one week holiday. So if anyone should feel like giving me some useful last minute tips as what to do there this time of year, what to pack etc I'd be very grateful. =D
Hi! I was there in August but it is almost the same now. In Azores every day of the year has the 4 seasons: spring in the morning (usualy some clouths and may be rain), sumer at midday (people even swim in winter), autum in the afternoon and winter at night. So: a bit of all kind of cloths. There are some VT members there: tell me if you want to meet them.
Azores is one of my favourite archipelago.
What to do?
1. Rent a car, because public transport are not so efficient and don't go everywhere.
2. Sao Miguel is worth one week:
- Go to Furnas, a little town in the middle of an old crater and have a swimm in the mineral pool of the Terra Nostra park: a delight
- Take road 5-2a to Lagoa do Fogo, park and climb down to the lake - a mysterious place
- Visit Nordeste a charming North Town
- From Furnas go to Ribeira Quente, a nice beach with volcanic warm waters
- Buy a hiking trails book and walk, walk, walk... (around Sete Cidades particularly).
- Have a drink in a cafe on the shore at Ponte Delgada.
- If you like eating: try the Hotel Talisman restaurant
- See the caldeiras at Caldeira Velha
- See the pinneapple plantations near Ponte Delgada-the only ones in Europe.
Enjoy, the island is quiet and people very welcoming.
