getting to Budva from Dubrovnik

by johannak75

We are visiting Budva in Summer.. booked the flight to Dubrovnik. Anybody knows what is the best way to get to Budva from Dubrovnik. Any buses going. If so from where in Dubrovnik, timetables please!

Thank you! Do you have any information of the local buses from Herceg Novi to Budva, any links to timetables or so on. Would be quite useful!

You should be able to get a direct bus from the main bus station in Dubrovnik to Budva. As mentioned above, another possibility is to take a bus as far as Herceg Novi; from Herceg Novi there are frequent buses to Kotor and Budva, no need to worry about a timetable.

You can see the current Dubrovnik bus station timetable here:
http://www.libertasdubrovnik.com/voznired.pdf
Currently it shows a bus to Herceg Novi and Budva at 10.30 every day, with additional services on some days at 15:00 and 20:30. There is an additional bus just as far as Herceg Novi at 15:30. These times may well change by summer, but if anything there will be more rather than fewer buses so that shouldn't be a problem.

A couple of other things.

Herceg Novi timetable (to be taken as a rough guide, confirm anything important at the bus station):

Also I know some people organise taxi transfers from Dubrovnik to Montenegro. Depending on your timings, how many in your group, and whether you want to go directly from the airport, that might or might not suit you. I don't have any further details on this.

Travel Tips for Budva

Pržno and Sveti Stefan

by JLBG

This view from the road that heads inland to Cetinje shows the southern shore. If you enlarge the photo, you will see in the first bay the city of Pržno. In the second bay, the continental part of the city of Sveti Stefan while the older part stands on a peninsula in the center of the photo.

Budva and Sveti Nikola island

by JLBG

The old city of Budva stands on a small peninsula, which is a little wider than Sveti Stefan's but not that much. The city has developed on the continent, along the bay and has filled the whole valley. It is now the main tourist resort of the Montenegrin coast.

Barred

by Aurorae

"Stefan Mitrov Ljubisa is doubtless Budva's best known son. He is one of the finest short story writers in the Serbian laungage. It's nice to be able to see in Budva the birthplaces of Stefan Count Zanovic, Krsto Ivanovic (1628-1688), poet, theatre chronicler, in whose person, like John Donne, spoke both priest and writer, who even tried his hand at melodrama. Towards the end of the last century in this region the first generation of domestic painters appeared, representing at the same time Montenegro's first trained artists. This generation included Anastas and Spiro Bocaric and a painter from Petrovac, Marko Gregovic."

Mediterranean song festival

by Jeca011

Mediterranean music festival is the leading domestic, live music festival held next to the ancient walls of Budva, late in June every year. The purpose of the festival is to affirm Mediterranean melodies, offering tens of new hits, widely sang and remembered, every year. A three-day long light-music festival gives young people an opportunity for affirmation. During recent years, the festival has been gaining an international character with more and more guests coming from neighboring, and other countries from the Mediterranean region. The Festival is based on the already tested programme conception, which, apart from the Mediterranean and pop music contest, also includes the participation of domestic and foreign artists, as well as the presentation of haute couture of worldly famous designers.
