Budva streets and beach

Hello dear travellers,

Im preparing suitable vacation for my parents, and thinking about Budva. As they are quite not young, stairs and hills are quite a big problem.

So, I wanna ask how's Budva for older travellers? How's Old City?

Also, planning to stay in private villas, so will use city beach - it is no problem to reach it? i.e. no stairs or something?

Hi and Shalom:
The old city of Budva should be just right for your folks, there are few stairs there and it is almost perfectly flat.
For beaches you have some just to the south of Budva, also a flat area, but if you prefer some better looking beaches, just a little south you have Sveti Stephan and you should be able to drive down to where the causeway crosses to the island. Anyway it is worth taking a look.

Hi!

I would say that it might be rather noisy in Budva and Sveti Stefans beaches are expensive (5 euro per person!). So, you should probably choose what is less hard for your parents - some stairs to the beach but calmer and cheaper or noise but flat landskape.

Sun and Beaches:

SLOVENSKA Beach: It spreads out from the city port to the Park hotel; the total length is about 1600m.

JAZ Beach: 6 km out of city. Great beach!

CITY Beach: One city beach is between the Old town and the Avala hotel, and the other one between the Old town and Budva port..

MOGREN I & II Beaches:

Can be accessed only through the Avala hotel complex. It is 150m away from the Old town. Mogren is consisted of two sandy beaches 350m long, which are connected with a tunnel. Preferred beach of the youth.

DROBNI PIJESAK Beach: My cup of tea!!! My favourite beach! If you want to relax, to escape from thousands of tourists, to swim in the cleanest blue water on Montenigrin coast, well, this is it! It has just one restaurant (thanks God!). It is situated in a hidden valley and it is 250m long. As the background is overgrown with olives it is called "wild". It is quite hard to approach though.
Drive some 20 km toward Petrovac. After you've passed "Smokov Vijenac" sign, you’ll see a parking spot on your left. You can either leave your car there, or if you’re an adventurer, you can drive some 150 m down the hill. Wouldn’t recommend to everybody! Then walk some 100 m and you are there!

QUEEN'S Beach: Beautiful beach. It was the favourite beach of Queen Maria Karadjordjevic and that's how it got its name. Preffered beach of Higher-Income people :)

MILOCER Beach: Beautiful beach. It is situated beneath the former summer resort of the royal Karadjordjevic family. H Income ONLY :)

BECICI Beach: Sandy, 1950m long. Spreads out from Zavale to Djevistenja.

Budva Symbol

This is the symbol of Budva. It is carved into the walls of the citadel, facing the sea and it says BUDVA ~ MARE ADRIATICO (It means Adriatic Sea in Italian). Italians had a controld over the coast for a certain period of time and a lot of Montenegrins speak Italian still, also because of the Italian tourists :))

MB Ice Club

This café is located at a prime location in the old town of Budva. You cannot miss it while sightseeing as it is just opposite the most photographed church.

The café consists of a big outdoor terrace with sunumbrellas. Service was attentive.

They offer all sorts of drinks, cocktails, ice creams and other desserts. I had an ice cream by the name of "Bounty" for Euro 5.20 and a black tea with honey for Euro 1.50.

It has 78 beds. Rooms and sweets are with balconies overlooking the sea, equipped by cable TV, phone and mini-bar. Hotel has two restaurants, one in the hotel itself, and the other one in a glass garden. It also has two aperitif bars. Guests can use fitness center and sauna. A big roof terrace enables a beautiful view at the whole town, gives possibility of enjoying especially in the evening. There is a Rent-A-Car service available in the hotel. Also there is Non-smoking area, babysitting and pets are allowed.

A: "There are quite a few buses from Budva to Bar. I think there are some local buses from Bar to Stari Bar (which is in the hills a few kilometres from Bar) but I don't know..."

Hotel "Sajo" is situated nearby "Slovenska Plaza". With its comfort and exclusion it is one of the best hotels at the Montenegro coast.
