Hotel Avala: The modern hotel
For the other days in Budva we stayed in this excellent modern hotel (by local standards) the Hotel Avala. Located by the old city and and the sea it was a beautiful sea view, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, spa and more. This hotel is probably the best in this region and our stay was very cozy and comfy.

Sobe: Budget Accommodation
There are plenty of holiday hotels and expensive 5-star accommodation options on Budva but Budget travellers are generally confined to the Sobe accommodation common all over Montenegro. This private room style accommodation is generally not well advertised on the web or in guide books but keep your eyes peeled for the signs dotted around the town.
Sobe accommodation is hard to find in the Old Town and is generally found a short walk east from the beach. However being low season, we did find a Sobe in the Old Town (thankfully, because we really had no desire to stay outside the Old Town) After walking around the Old Town for about 15 minutes we were about to give up hope of finding somewhere in the Stari Grad when we heard a woman’s voice calling from an upstairs window of a central Old Town house, asking us if we were looking for a room. After haggling for down the price from €40 to €25 for the two of us we settled in to what was a sparsely furnished but clean and relatively comfortable double room with ajoining bathroom. Bit more expensive than Sobe accommodation elsewhere in Montenegro but reasonable considering where you are.
Incidentally, there is just one hostel, Hippo Hostel, in Budva and it closes for the low season, opening in May.

Villa Bak: Close to Old Town
The villa is located not far from Old Town, on Petrovacka st., in front of Olimpia Express bus stop, in a very quiet corner. On the second floor, there are three rooms with personal shower and toilet. In each room you’ll find a big comfortable bed, wardrobe, bedside tables, big TV, fridge, iron, electric kettle, minimal set of plates and cups, and of course air-conditioner. In my opinion, a good place. BUT, it has a very big minus if it is raining, as roof is holed. No, during rain it was not flooding in the room, but in shower-room there were some puddles.
So, if you are sure that during your stay in Budva weather will be sunny ;) and if you are not against dogs, as landlord has a German shepherd, the villa will be nice... and safe ;)

Check the room well when hiring one
On my journey to Budva I stayed in an apartment, one room in fact (kitchen-corner included). The price was 35 Euros/night. Well, apart from the room amenities which were new and relatively good, it had some shortcomings. The sheets sucked and the bed was not comfortable at all, and the room had a stink of moisture, not noticeable when coming at first. Anyway, we enjoyed having a parking free of charge as the area was enough safe to let the car in front of the house. So, my tip, check the house (and the bed :)) well before paying for the price, and it's better to see several rooms before accepting to hire one of them.

Budva's liar hotel
Me and my girlfriend asking about the prices of hotels in Budva found that GRBALJ hotel offered 25 euros but didn't mention that it was per person and not per night. This is high considering that it is a two star hotel. We were offered the exact price by Oaza (four star villa and even 10 percent discount) and the owner of it even called me in my mobile to tell me the prices himself. Nice one, guys. Having arrived at 19:00 we couldn't search for another accomodation, but the other day we found an appartment for 20 euros per night. It was the first one we asked. Easy as that.

double room with bathroom on the veranda.

Hotel Milocer: Milocer is a very nice location
We searched and searched for hotel information on the coast in Montenegro but only found a few hotels on a few web-sites. Some of the hotel web-sites looked very impressive but I was suspicious because there weren't any real photos of the hotel - just some realistic looking computer graphics. We eventually choose Hotel Milocer because it is "20m to the beach" and is the converted ex-residence of the former King. The main building of Hotel Milocer is right next to the beach and very lovely, however, we were told our room was not in the main building but 300m away up the hill! Bear this in mind when booking - ask for a room in the main building if you want to be near the beach!
Although our room was 300m from the beach when we had expected to be only 20m away, the room was more like an appartment. There was a separate large living area with dining table, sofa, cabinets etc, a hallway, bathroom and bedroom. We even had our own private terrace. Very nicely done and fairly modern too (apart from the tv!). If you are fit the walk to the hotel's private beach takes about 5 mins, a walk to another public beach takes about the same in the opposite direction. There are restaurants nearby and a couple of shops too. A very convenient location out of the centre of Budva which looks very busy and bustly.

Mirenza: One two star hotel
During my visits to Budva, where I have been as many times as once in in June 2005 (in a package tour) I have experiences in living in as many hotels as one - Hotel Mirenza, local classification two stars, address Mainski put bb. From all of these one hotels where I have lived in Budva its is absolutely the best one.
The hotel has Internet pages but only in local language (http://mirenza.crnagora.co.yu/).
I have been in worse hotels with three stars so the place was OK . It is build in the year 2000. Restaurant Porto by Sloveska Plaza belong to same group (same owners or company) as the hotel so you get 10% discount in there.
If you don't hate walking the hotel is located by walking distance form Slovenska plaza (the beach). Slovenska Palza area can be fully occpupied by tourists but near by this hotel you can find restaurants where also local people are eating or drinking.

Sobe or Zimmer: Look for a Sobe
As soon as you approach Budva, you will see dozens of people out on the street holding signs which say Sobe ("Room" in Serbian) or Zimmer ("Room" in German) or sometimes simply "Apartment". It's not unusual to see an elderly woman sitting on a chair under an umbrella holding a sign, beckoning to passersby. Good way to put grandma to work to earn her keep.
There is an abundance of rooms available for rent in Budva. The vacancy rate has increased dramatically over the past few years, according to our Budvan relatives. No advance reservations are necessary. You'll have plenty to choose from and all at an extremely reasonable price.
It goes without saying...check the place out before renting. Ask if breakfast is included - it often is and you'll be treated to real honest to goodness down home local cuisine. But you can't go wrong - there are so many choices. It's a buyers market out there.
