Hotel Perla, Herceg Novi, Montenegro by karenincalifornia Hotel Perla is one of the new privately owned hotels. Open since 2000, it claims to be a 5 star, but do not expect 5 star accommodations by US or western European standards. By Montinegrin standards, however, we found Hotel Perla to be a fine hotel and we would definitely stay here again.
The staff was professional, friendly and multilingual. Maid service was reliable. The full breakfast, inluded in the price of the room, was delicious. Our seaview room was comfortable and cost only EUR 42,50 per night. Boka Kotorska, Montenegro by karenincalifornia For 42,50 Euros, you can get a room with this fabulous view of the Bay of Kotor. All rooms with a view like this overlook the promenade, which is noisy at night. If you prefer peace and quiet, you might want to forego the view. We were glad we opted for the view and the noise. I enjoyed falling asleep to the Serbian music and partying. The sea breeze was delightful. The Promenade quiets down by 1:00 am.

by vesna04 There are plenty private rooms available in H.Novi. The quality is not standard. You can find from simple to luxurious rooms. So it is best to check it up before taking. My advice would be to hire a room in some travel agency, although it can cost you a euro or two more. However, if you decide to do it on your own, just look for the signs as in the photo.

Hotel room at Perla Hotel, Herceg Novi, Montenegro by karenincalifornia Hehe - just kidding about the red light district, but there IS a tip here about a red light. This is a picture of my kids' hotel room at the Perla Hotel. I am happy to see my son made his bed (sort of). That makes me look kind of like a good mom - like maybe I raised him right! Seriously, my hubby and I have great kids - even if their beds aren't made like they are in the army. The bedrooms come furnished with one queen sized bed (actually two single beds pushed together - very typical for Montenegro) and a single bed. 3 people can sleep comfortably in one room. My kids' room faced an inner courtyard and they had a garden patio. Their room was much quieter than ours because they weren't above the promenade. However, they were above the kitchen and complained about food smells.
A very unique feature of this hotel is the separate hot water tank in every room. Do NOT turn off the red light in the bathroom. That light indicates that the hot water heater is on. Of course, my kids managed to inadvertently turn it off and took cold showers for a day before learning that they had to keep that red light on. Sobes for rent in Herceg-Novi, Montenegro by karenincalifornia Like other parts of Montenegro, Herceg-Novi has a large number of private rooms and apartments available for rent. Look for signs advertising "Sobe" or "Zimmer". Quality varies, so you should rent a sobe only upon recommdation or after seeing the room. In any event, you should be able to find a very good deal.
This picture shows a building with sobes for rent right on the waterfront promenade in Herceg-Novi. The building was actually a bit decrepit, although it doesn't come through in this pictures. Having said that, depending on where I am or who I am traveling with, I could be happy as an eggplant in even a box car. Theme: Pension/GuesthouseComparison: least expensive

by vesna04 I never stayed in it but I've heared it is a nice Hotel. It has a terrace with a view, restaurant, swimming pool, pizzeria, private beach. Few days ago I was walking trough Herceg Novi and I saw the sign about special offer for this Hotel. The room per person was 15-20 euros per day including breakfast. Not a bed deal I would say. However,It is wise to check the prices during the high season. Theme: HotelAddress: Near hotel Plaza

by vesna04 This is a big 3*** Hotel very close to the beach. The accomodation is good. There are 560 beds on offer. Several terraces, summer gardens, indoor swimming-pool, trim cabinet, sauna, several congress and concert halls, rooms for meetings. Restaurant, tavern, grill-room, pizzeria, cafe, aperitive-bars, night bar. It is central heated at the winters and air conditioned at the summers. by Srechko The best deals are found in private accommodation. During my last visit (in September 2000) we rented a 2-bedroom appartment, with its own beach and cafeteria right below our balcony. We had a beautiful view at the sea. Walking distance to old town - 15 minutes. It was very cheap then (40DM per day), but I heard it got more expensive now. by Beograd This place is named after a family that is it's owner. It's nice and cosy. every apartment has a balcony and view to Boka Kotorska Bay. It's clean, close to the beach... Theme: HotelComparison: about averageDirections: SavinaWebsite: www.laban.cg.yu

1 minute walking downhill from the bus station toward the old town, the first Apartment/Sobe is owned by a German speaking lady. This place was awful, she raised the agreed upon price after we moved in, tried to demand 4 days in advance and then generally harassed us, knocking on doors at all hours. Kitchen use prohibited. Avoid this place. We found so many nice, friendly and relaxed apartment landladies in Montenegro, there is no need to tolerate the one or two bad ones. If you can't find a place on your own during the peak season in Herceg Novi, there is a guy in the bus station parking lot that brokers places. He is middle aged and constantly on his mobile phone, everyone knows him. I did not try, but would if necessary. The very first place you will see with a SOBE sign. **AVOID **
