Herceg-Novi

by Sumienka

Hello! Is Herceg-Novi good for stay with 2 small children? Where is it better to rent an apartment, in Topla or Savina?

Re: Herceg-Novi

Hello,

We stayed 4 days in Herceg-Novi at the beginning of last Sepetember. In my opinion it is a pleasent town which is definitewly suitable for a sta with small children, as it has a nice pedestrianised promenade and some lovely beaches. Just be prepared, that in high season the place might be packed with tourists.

I hope this helps,

...and regarding your question about Topla and Savina, I would go for Savina as it is probably a bit quieter than Topla. Savina has a lovely monastery.

Anyway, both districts are located a bit outside of Herceg Novi's city centre.

I hope this helps,

A part of Herceg-Novi I will suggest Igalo as well for young family.
Igalo also is know as natural health spa. Ppl from the Balkans come for the clean and iodine full air....
Tivat is also nice for young family and if you go further into the bay I suggest village of Prchanj for quiet beaches and nice restaurants..

Thanks alot!

And what do you think about Kumbor? It seems that the beaches there are nicer.

Travel Tips for Herceg-Novi

Visit Zanjice, a lonely beach...

by Srechko

Visit Zanjice, a lonely beach surrounded by beautiful untouched nature. Several boats leave from the hotel 'Plaza' every day for a full day excursion. When there, enjoy crystal clear water and go to the 'Plava Spilja' (Blue Cave - photo) accessible only by water for an amazing experience. It has two entrances and the hole is around 30m high. Because of crystal clear water and specific lights it has unusual blue/velvet colour. Take a swim in here - if you dare!

Herceg Novi Beaches

by vesna04

I am not very fond of the beaches in the town itself, but some hotels have their own private beaches that are much nicer than the public ones.
Most of the beaches are man made of concrete. The rocky once can be found too. Howeever, if you are after the nice sandy beaches, yes, there are plenty of them in easy reach from the town.

ATM mashines

by vesna04

I was asked several times by VT fellows about ATM mashines in Montenegro. They can be found in the majority of the towns. I saw one in H.Novi that accepts VISA cards, I think that more of them exist, but i am not certain. This one I saw in Njegoseva street.

Zanjic beach...

by KonstantinII

Zanjic Beach is one of the cleanest beaches around. The watter is beautiful and feel free to dive.
As in most of the beaches in Montenegro there are Sun Umbrellos and beach chairs that will wait for you on the beach. The thing is that you'll have to pay for them IF you want to use them (4 euros for 2 chairs and an umbrella for the whole day.

Savina Monastery

by vesna04

The Monastery complex has 3 Churches and a monk's residential building. The oldest part is small Church of St. Sava (13th century). The small Church of the Assumption was built in 15th c. and possesses rich treasures from the Nemanjic period. Worth to mention is the painting from 1455 done by the famous Kotor painter Lovro Marinov Dobricevic.
The big church of the Assumption was built between 1777 and 1799 by builder Nikola Foretic.
Besides the treasures and frescos, the exeptional work on stone can be seen too.
