ZUTO: Next to the sea

by babsag

The owner, Zuto is very nice. He speaks a little English, German and Serbian. The rooms are small, most of them have two beds, one of them is for two people, the other is for one. The apartments are only one room, some apartments have a bathroom and a fridge, but theyre still the same size. There is also a sort of balcony downstairs, there are 2-4 tables and some chairs. I think all the rooms ( I have only been in 2 ) have a nice view. The place isnt luxury, but very nice. I think this place would be about 3-4 stars ( out of 5 ). Not because of the rooms, but because of the location, the view and for only 10 euro per person, its definately worth it.

The beach is close by, the view, the location, how cheap the room is and the owner is also kind.

Tri Sorele: Self-catering in Prcanj, Montenegro

by m_marika

We always stayed before in Hotels or guest houses so this was a surprise for us (my long time travelling friend). We travelled to Montenegro in June 2009 and were hitchhiking (very easy - people are very friendly but i would not do this alone) and taking buses. The best part of the trip was the Boka Kotorska area, full of Venetian architecture and really beautiful scenery. But we were dissapointed with the accommodation - either very expensive hotels or not so nice guest houses.

So we looked online and found this place, www.kotor-bay-apartment.co.uk - it was self-catering which we had never tried before. Wow - so much better! You get the whole place to yourself and it's cheaper than a hotel by far. And you can save money on food by cooking. It was so nice to relax on the balcony every evening.

Self-catering gives you a nice sense of freedom and you do not feel like you are in trespassing in someone's home like some of the guest houses we looked at. It was a little over our budget but we had the swimming pool most of the time to ourselves and it was a luxury after the last few weeks of travelling. The views from the balcony were fantastic and the people looking after the apartment were very friendly and helpful - we didn't want to leave at the end!

Prcanj is nice and quiet but also very close to Kotor and the buses are very cheap. We paid less than 1 Euro to get to Kotor.

My next adventure will also include self-catering - it makes such a difference.

Philia: Good hotel in Podgorica

It is very nice, small hotel. Convenient location and very friendly staff.

Hotel Javor in Zabljak

by barryg23

For our four nights in Zabljak we stayed in Hotel Javor, a small hotel one street west of the main street in the centre of town. As elsewhere in Montenegro, hotels are not as cheap as private accommodation in Zabljak, but having stayed in private rooms in Dubrovnik and Kotor, we fancied a hotel for a change.

We tried a couple of other hotels before Javor, and all were full, but Javor had a spare room, and the price wasn't too bad either - 24 Euros each per night for a double room, with breakfast also included. Our room was on the top floor of the hotel and was reasonably spacious. Views were of town rather than the mountains but overall it was good value for money. We had our own fridge and TV too, though the bathroom was shared with one other room.

The best thing about Javor was the good breakfast we were given each morning. Good that is apart from the coffee which was tasteless, though the bread, jam, cakes and pancakes set us up nicely each morning for a day of hiking. The man running Hotel Javor and the people working there were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay.

Crvena Glavica: Camping

by xdescendx

This was a great little campground just past Sveti Stefan off to the right. It's in the olive groves and has minimal facilities. No hot water, but you can pay 3 euro for electricity and 3 euro for a small refridgerator space. I recommend this place for a budget trip. I would come here over and over. It's a great quiet getaway.

The beach is wonderful. You'll have to walk down a rocky trail, but it's well worth it.

Private accomodation than hostels / budget hotels

by piotrbog

Montenegro still crawls with number of hostels and budget hotels. However, there is a lot of private accomodations with reasonable prices (less than 10 euros per person). And this is great occasion to meet locals!

anybody: Private sector

by igi99ksu

They best way to stay in Montenegro - it's to rent a room or some apartment/flat after you come to the city you choose. It's most popular way to stay there. 60% of people which are living there will be glad to offer you their apartments =)
