Montenegrin currency: Euro
by HORSCHECK
I found it quite an interesting fact to know that Montenegro is neither a member of the European Union nor a member of the so called Eurozone, but that the country has adopted the Euro as official currency.
Prior to the introduction of the Euro, the German Mark (Deutsche Mark) was the currency used in Montenegro.
Of course Montenegro does not have issuing right for the Euro, therefore they don't have their own coins with a distinctive national design.
Welcome to Podgorica
by yumyum
I flew into Podgorica hours before HORSCHECK arrived. So I had time to take a walk from the hotel to the bus/railway station to check out the timetables for the next day, when we continued our trip to Ulcinj.
In the evening we took a walk from the hotel into downtown Podgorica where we tried to find a restaurant to have a meal. This wasn't easy at all as there are lots of cafés without meals or else as it was a Saturday night they were all packed and who wants to sit inside on a warm evening?!

OSTROG MONASTERY - MONTENEGRO - YUGOSLAVIA / St. Vasilije Jovanovic Ostroski (Popovo Polje 1610 - The Ostrog Monastery 1671) St. Vasilije, Metropolitan of Zahumlje, founded the Ostrog Monastery by erecting the upper, cave church of St. Christ in 1665. He was a person of exceptional virtues, the protector of people, healer and miracle worker. His relics are in the Ostrog Monastery, and their healing power is believed in, not only by the Orthodox believers but other believers as well.
