In Belgrade

by highliner_35

Hi All,

I'll be in Belgrade starting from the 31st of August for a couple of days.
It's for business purposes, but I intend to discover the city for my own interest.

I like seeing and walking in the open air places, I like to eat and also enjoy the night life.
Is there anything you could advise? Would also appreciate to meet VT members there.

Looking forward to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

There are some really nice places of interest in Belgrade, some of them are:

- Kalemegdan Fortress: A medieval fortress with a huge park, a zoo, a few souvenir stands, many young and old people spending their time enjoying the beautiful scenery of Sava and Danube rivers. It also offers a good view of Novi Beograd (New Belgrade). It's really easy to find.

- Knez Mihailova Street: The main shopping street of the city, really crowded and lively, there is no chance you won't come across this street while strolling around Belgrade

- Skadarlija street: This street has a lot of good restaurants with live music and a really bohemian feeling about it

- Saint Sava Temple: A temple that's really hard to miss, since it's on a hill and quite visible from many parts of the city. The church's interior is unfinished, but its size is magnificent.

- Nightlife: Most visitors enjoy a night at one of the boat-bars-taverns on the banks of the Danube or Sava rivers. They have live music sometimes, they offer food and usually after midnight you might be lucky enough to be part of a big party (if the mood is right).

Have fun in Belgrade, it's a very nice city!

But my advice (like tourist) you must go to visit and see Supermarket place
it is some kind of ....place where do you can eat, drink coctails and buy a lot of retro things. Near Studentski trg.

Travel Tips for Belgrade

Relaxing day by the river

by MacedonianUK

Well Belgrade has lots to offer. Great out door caffes, shopping, parks, arhitecture, rocking nitelife, great restaurants....
Recently voted for one of the Party towns in Europe. As is emerging from the isolation, Belgarde is relativly cheap and funky.
What I like out the City, is that have lots to offer, from backpaking, budget hotels, to refined dinning, also it is great for familys. So if you have your young ones with you, and you are questioning do you go there , do not think , just go.

Knez Mihailova Street

This walking street connects two key areas of Belgrade -- Trg Republike and the park at Kalemegdan. On the left is a detail of one of the beautiful buildings. On the right a view back up the street showing the former US Library building, now under renovation as a Spanish Cultural center of some kind.

Palata Albanija

by Travelchili

Palata Albanija is a very interesting building in the centre of the city. It was designed in 1938 and the constructions finished by 1940. It was the highest building for many years, the dominating structure of modern architecture in Belgrade. You can find it at Knez Mihailova 4-6
