Hi Folks;
Can anyone recommend a relatively inexpensive, clean and safe hotel suitable for a single woman traveller in her 60's in Belgrade, please?

it is very nise, floating hosetel, but has private rooms and also is very clean & safe. It is in stunning location & very easely can get to Old town with bus stop few hungred yards away. You can reach Old town Belgrade, Kalemegdan fortress, also New Belgrade & Zemun.

Hi there, just to add a comment on arka barka. It's a clean place, but I don't think it's good for a 60 old woman single traveler, becuase it's little bit out of the city and on the river, especially for night.
I would rather recommend some last minute offer on booking.com
I found there nice hotels and reviews were also very helpful
If you are worried about Arka-Barka than chek out Royal Hotel in the center. I posted link above. But I still think that arka-Barka is good solution. Depends how youthfull is the "older"lady.
She might be clipping your ear for you suggesting that hostel is not for her :)
Anyhow have great time. I am going to Belgrade on monday.Can not wait!!!!

Thanks Valentina - sadly my wife is chronically ill and not particularly mobile - she needs her creature comforts, so a hostel wouldn't be suitable.
Malkom, please than consider the ROYAL.
It is in the center of the Old town, close to Knez Mihajlova St, Tarazije, Kalemegdan, and many places are walking distance.
My friends form UK,stayed there last year & they found it cleand ans suitable, not too expencive.
I personaly have limmited experiance at staying in Belgrades hotels, as I have family, so I stay with them.
My recomendatuion steams from my friends using the hotels/hostels.
I make point of visiting the places they stay, taking photos of the rooms if possible,and judging for my self it is good enough to be put on VT.

You have to take time to chill while in Belgrade, while in Serbia....
have a drink, sit down....look around and all the beauty will sink in. Not yet lounching itself into the caplitalist way of life.... Serbia is still one of those places where it is more important to chill out than to work :)
Go to see the old part of Belgrade, Kalemegdan, Knez Michailowa street and SKADARLIJA oldest street with restourants, nad pubs, oldest beer factory Zemunski Kej, Gardos - with beautifule view to Belgrady city.
In the center you wuill see beautifully restored old buildings next to very contemporary ones.

i was in yugoslavia during the revolution in october 2000 . It was an amazing experience and Ill tell a lot more about it some other time

The church of St. Vasilije Ostroški is situated on Novi Beograd (New Belgrade), at Bežanijska kosa. It is rather new, completed only couple of years ago. I live nearby. :)
It's a pretty weird, unusual church, completely round and with an isolated thin tower, not resembling Orthodox arxhitecture at all, but I guess that the novelty in religious architecture is becoming popular around Serbia.
