Christians and Mosquitos...always a good combo.

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)

During the summer, Hostel Jelenica offers up dorm rooms for weary travellers. The quality and decor of your room will vary according to the tastes of the students who usually occupy it - we had a life size poster of Christina Aguilera on the back of our door. You get a bathroom, with a shower of the step-in-and-soak everything variety. The toilets are shared, none have locks, but on the plus side, some of them have seats.

It is what it is for seven quid a night, and feels more secure than some other hostels.

Unique Quality: Jelenica offers a base for American Christians who come to Serbia in the summer to spread the word. They are keen to chat to people about their faith, but it's a bit annoying to be woken up early on a Sunday morning with a bongo-and-prayer session.

On the plus side, there is a nicely overgrown garden to get tanked up in, and there are laundry facilities. Watch out for the mosquitos, though - I added another twenty bites to my collection during our stay!
