    Inexpensive and Downtown

Though a bit reminiscent of and old Yugoslavia socialist hotel, the Hotel Union is a good choice for travelers on a budget. With a friendly staff, clean rooms, and a GREAT downtown location, this is a great place to stay in to save a couple bucks.

I arrived in Belgrade at 7:00 AM and was concerned that the hotel staff would not let me check in so early. Being extremely exhausted, I was pleasantly surprised when the manager of the hotel accommodated my early check-in! My room was small, but clean, and I felt completely safe.

Unique Quality: Stay at the Hotel Union if you want cheap, clean, downtown accomodation.

Directions: Downtown, behind the National Parliament building

There always is a best average place

This is my favourite in Belgrade. Even though the Royal lies closer to the main pedestrian and to the Kalemegdan, the Union will always be the Union, a good 2* hotel with nice rooms, a pleasant atmosphere and many students attending the summer courses of Serbian every year. The price starts at about EUR 35-40 for a double.

Unique Quality: Rooms are clean and well endowed with all there is needed, staff is attentive.

Directions: From Trg Republike take Makedonska to the East and then just the first to the right, i.e. Decanska. Soon it splits in two: take the one lightly to the left, that is Kosovska.
