Elvis may have left the building but the new owner a Chinese American and his local staff were great. They will help you with anything you need and if they do not have a room for you they will find one for you. Very clean, Three shared bathrooms and a bath tub in one, free laundry, one free beer a night along with 2 free hours of internet if you pay $15 per night or they will drop it a couple of bucks if you don't drink or need a net fix. I've heard it turns into a bit of a party house during the summer but when I was there in Nov. it was quiet for the most part.
Cristina, the manager of the hostel is very kind and helpful. I lost my ATM card while I was there and she worked with my bank to arrange a replacement to be delivered via UPS while I was at the Moldovan Consulate retrieving my passport/Moldovan Visa. There is a also a long term resident there from Norway. His name is Kurt and you'll have a hard time missing him if you end up staying there. He has his opinions but is a nice guy and may even offer to cook a simple dinner for you if you get to know him. While I was there they had some large groups come in but managed to find me a place to sleep every night. As recommended, Hotel Carpati is an excellent bargin. Clean, convenient, with a marvelous staff. A small hotel with 8 rooms per floor with shared shower and toilets, the rooms are basic with a sink and TV. The showers are small, with cold water unless you shower on the first floor! The breakfast is included and so complete, that as a small eater, I could eat breakfast and eat nothing else all day, but a small snack at night! I paid $23 for a single room. They can also provide airport to/from transportation at a good price. http://www.hotelcarpatibucuresti.ro/ Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensivePhone: 3150140Directions: 16 Mateo Millo street one block off Victorie blvd, just down the street from the intercontinental note: NO street sign at Mateo Millo ! ! ! ! but look for the national telephone company trucksWebsite: http://www.hotelcarpatibucuresti.ro/

Hotel Alpin (centre of photo) by dracul_wamphyri A top class hotel, one of the best we've stayed in. The food is marvellous with plenty to choose from. Vegetables aren't like anything we get back at home - they have flavour! Service is very professional and, the bar is open all night. Also a good choice if you have children. Highly recommended.
There is a pool (although this was closed for refurbishment whilst we were there. Rooms are comfortable and of a high standard. Views are awesome as the hotel is situated high on a hillside. As we came to Sibiu in the evening we didn't have much time to look for accommodation, so we followed our guidebook. Pensiunea Leu is situated very close to the Old Town . Rooms were rather small but clean. The price was 10 euro per person in a double-bedded room with a toilet and shower. The biggest disadvantage was that smoking was allowed so in the hall there was an awful smell of cigarettes almost all the time. There was no car park so we had to leave our car in the street, but with no problems. Camping near Cormaia river by Taffi Farmecul padurii mean "the charm of the forest" and that is what you will experience in this complex of guesthouses plus campground. Accommodation is very basic, but this is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding forests as well as the wonderful Rodna Mountains nearby.
Its best feature is its location on the Cormaia river, as well as the peace and quiet of the place. Iadolina: Stane: nearby buildings by Villageidiot Don’t go. Just don’t. Yes, it is a charming winding drive up the mountain, passing the horse-drawn carts every day, and yes the scenery is lovely. Some of the staff are even helpful. But in the summer at least, too much of the clientel is local lowlife, and most of the staff consider waiting on these friends to be the full extant of their job. Other guests, at least of the American variety, are regarded with suspicion and even mild hostility. Why should they inconvenience themselves to get a coffee creamer for you (2 meters away) when talking with their friends is so much fun? The breakfast menu is limited for a resort: no fruit, no yogurt, no cereal. At the Sunday buffet, they will not get you anything not already displayed, not even hot water to make your own tea. The idea of waiting on customers they don’t already know seems foreign to them. Transilvania Tours, the parent organization, did not communicate our internet reservation to Hotel Iadolina. This destination resort does not accept credit cards. If you must go, make it for dinner only – and bring cash.

Casa Calin in Vama by MariusG Casa Calin is located in Vama, a convenient site for visiting the painted monasteries in the South Bucovina area. The pension is rated the above average 3 stars and belongs to ANTREC network of pensions (see my other tip in this category).
The pension is very nice and clean, the staff is very friendly and the food is fresh and tasty – I can recommend it without any hesitation.

by MariusG The pensions ("pensiune" in Romanian) are fun and cheap. I had good experience with ANTREC organization, one of the more reliable country-wide organizations which lists such pensions. There, they are graded from 1 to 3 stars (daises), according to their level of comfort and price.
