I stay in many different categories here. My best tip is to rent an appartment. It will cost you around 40 euros a night, and then you live luxus in centrum of Buchuresti.
You get a bedroom, livingroom, and kitchen, and maybe a balcon.
Hotels with a little standard, ex hotel Ibis takes 79 euro a night, its ok, but me personally prefer appartments.
In city center of Medias you can find the Hotel Select.
We can recommend it if you are looking for a cheap alternative with everything
in perfect order.

Romania's entry into the EU has seen prices go sky high in the last 18 months and anything in tourism is approaching Western European prices.
However this hotel is lovely. It's around £50.00 Uk for a double per night with breakfast.
Its spotlessly clean it has a mini bar in the room with lovely modern bathrooms.
It is located on a very busy main road, which makes parking a bit tricky, but there are reseved spaces
At night if you are in the front of the hotel the traffic noise is a problem if you're not used to city noise. However if you have room in the back of the hotel it overlooks a residential street where everybody owns a dog...need I say more.... dogs barking all night or traffic? Your choice.
But lets be honest these countries are all the same, if you go to these places you gotta take dogs and traffic it comes with the territory.
One other thing. Try and negotiate your way out of breakfast and go three doors down the street. A traditional Romanian restaurant opens at 10am and does the most fantastic pancakes. Far better then the breakfast the hotel serves up.
Also great for cheap lovely well cooked evening meal.
About a ten minute walk from the centre
This is a warning to anyone especially NON SMOKERS planning to stay even one night in the sport hotel in the city of Onesti in North central Romania.
Located on bridge at the lower end of the town the outside of the hotel looks quite presentable. Even the reception, although sparse in decoration is clean and presentable.
However be warned.... The bedrooms are anything but. The hotel does not have a non-smoking policy anywhere within its 4 walls and this is immediately noticeable on leaving the reception into the corridors. To put it bluntly it stinks to high heaven. The rooms are the same; it is hard to draw breath. We tried three rooms before settling for the least smelly of the 3 it was late and we were stuck with it for the night. Not only did the room stink, the carpets were old and sticky and doors were falling or fell off the furniture when they were opened. The toilet leaked every time it was flushed. We couldn’t get out the place fast enough the next morning. I will admit that travelling through Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania (Eastern Europr in general) non-smoking anything is hard to find. However this was not a budget hotel and is advertised on many hotel booking web sites including Hotel.com
For the money I would advise go to the top of the town and stay in the old Trotus hotel. Its an old communist hotel but has been refurbished and has non smoking rooms. Its slightly more costly but your more likely to wake up with lungs still working.
Wow! Went visiting Moldavia and went to the little town of Slanic Moldova in the middle of mountains, a beautiful valley surronded by forests, fresh air, peace!
We found there a great house where we stayed, owned by a very nice couple, the Flintoaca. They have 2 level house with all you might want and even more, plus the family is very welcoming and helpful.
They are staying on Dobru street Nr 6 and their phone nr is 0040 234 348 276 0r 0040 720 287 256

Without being affiliated to any international chain, this is Bucharest's finest hotel. A classical style place which finely blends elegance and a touch of opulence, the Capsa provides some of the most impressive hotel rooms in the city. Only note that singles can be rather small and some have attic windows.
More than the hotel, the Capsa stands for the best confectionery shop in the city. Fine chocolate, good cookies (especially the pricomigdale), as well as the cakes, are all inviting. Just mind your diet...

Tastefully restored, the two are centrally located, near Cismigiu Gardens and the City Hall. They blend the comfortable stay provided by a boutique hotel with images bringing back the interbellum period in Bucharest. Without being 5* units, these are my top recommendations in Bucharest.

With a fine wooden staircase, tastefully decorated rooms, as well as with - by far - the best restaurant in the region, this is my recommended place to stay in Sighet. Ask for the room with balcony and you are there.
