Churches
by Mique
In Oradea (and probably throughout the region) you'll find that churches are constantly open. At least during the day. And many people use the churches all thourgh the day. Myself being from the Netherlands where churches nowadays are usually locked except for times of services, i found it fascinating to see that you could walk into a church here at any time during the day.. And that both young and old do so..
The photo of this statue was taken in the small garden outside the church that is situated on the calea republicii..

Biserica cu luna\the moon church
by Mique
This Orthodox church is the only one of its kind in Europe and it has the only working mechanisme in the whole world. It shows the phases of the moon hence the name 'moon church' . It was build between 1784 and 1790. Although astonishing from the outside because of the lunar indicator, the inside is very worth a visit as well. And inside you can find the history of the moon church. Unfortunately it is written down in romanian, french and german so if you don't speak those languages it offers no further explanation. And even if you do speak one of those languages.. it has been typed ages ago.. and is sometimes very hard to read. But very interesting though.
The Roman-Catholic Church
by edvin_br
The curch was first built between 1731 to 1744 and since then i been transformed: first time in 1876 by Knapp Ferenc who added to the curch its centeral tower. Between 1903-1905 it was renovated again by Rimanoczy Kalman junior who added to the curch another 2 smaller towers.
Since then it is one of the cities most beautiful churches and it worth a visit, just even to look at it for a few minouts.
Cercul Catolic

Dupa 1946 a functionat in cladire cinematograful "Arta". Dupa 1990 cladirea a fost cedata Scolii Populare de Arta si Teatrului de Stat, si ceva mai incolo Filarmonicii de Stat.
