by Fam.Rauca
The Tampa Mountain is the most important peak in Brasov, with a wonderful view above the city and an important natural reservation on a surface of 150 ha.
Here you can see a lot o rare plant species that grow up only in this region.
On the North side of the mountain there is a wonderful forest with numerous exceptional trees that are very important for the scientifically studies and for the ornamental face of the region.
The southern side of the peak is very sunny and with not many trees.
On the Tampa Peak there are numerous species of birds and animals.
The mountain that has an altitude of 955 m is an attraction for the many tourists that come in Brasov.
A cable railway brings the visitors on the top of the peak, where is a wonderful place for relax with a superb view over the town and many fresh air for the lungs.
A good and elegant restaurant is also placed on the top of the mountain. From here you can have a good panorama over the whole region.
The restaurant offers to the guests a large number of traditional and international meals and drinks, and the personal is friendly and competent.
WW II Soldiers Cemetery
by josephescu
Located opposite Weaver's Bastion and Sports Museum, this is a quite discrete cemetery, partly hidden behind the trees of what seems a small park. It is dedicated to soldiers who died in WW II, mostly German ones. Its discretion maybe be somehow related to the fact that most of the Germans buried here seemed to have fought on the “other side”, in the Reich’s army.
Travel by train
by DPando
The train the best way to move in Romania...its so comfortable and no risk is in .. we hadnt any bother moving from any town to other
Landscapes from Brasov through Bucharest were stunning... the charpatian mountain were amazing ...there are a lot of ski resorts on the way and little and cosy small towns sparkle the route....after the mountains the landscapes is more flattered than ever.... long and wide valley (Danube corridor i guess) is seen through the mountains to Bucharest a long track just with nothing to see just a huge meadow
I dont remember how much was the ticket train but it wasnt cheap ...not much if we consider that is Romania !!!
You can see some landscapes shots in "off the beaten path" tips
Turkish food and ice cream: life is great!
by midnight_mike about Mado restaurant
If you just came from Turkey, Mado may not be the best place to go. But the eatery along Strada Republicii, a few steps from the center of Brasov, has some really good Turkish food. For meat lovers, order the mixed grill or the Iskender kebab. The pita bread is fresh and delicious. Mado has many non-Turkish items on the menu, including pizza and ice cream. Tables are set up in front of the restaurant during warm weather.
The City Hall
by Nobbe
In the middle of Sfatului Square there is The City Hall, built in the 13th century, the former Trumpets Tower. Initially built as a watch tower, once the city has developed, the building was turned into the City Hall. The City Hall is the spot where for centuries took place the city council meetings as well as the town trials. Started in 1420, the construction was enlarged with the two levels building as we can see it today. The tower is 58 meters high. Nowadays the building hosts the History Museum of Brasov.
