Dracula's Castle Stay
by orlandoglobetrotter
I asked this question in the general Romania forum but I'm asking here to just in case it gets more bites...
I know that in many castles in Europe, some of the rooms have been made into hotel rooms to where, provided your willing to cough up the money, you can overnight there. My question is if that is the case with the castle known as Dracula's castle (I believe it's also called Bran Castle).

I haven't been there in 20 years now, but then it was quite a bit in ruins with very low doorways. It was not partly a hotel at all back then.

A quick Google search gives no indication that Bran castle operates a hotel.

When I was there this March I was in the area going to the old Royal palace on the Mountain which had interior tours (No Cameras) But I understand it may be permanently closed as the King that had to Abdicate to the Commies in 1947 is still alive and wants it back. But my friends I stayed with told me Bran Castle is older and not as good a shape and no hotel in it. I didn't have time to go there. But the mountains around Brasov are beautiful.

I was there in 2000 and 2004. Did not see any hotel rooms there.

Hei there!
For sure, Bran Castle is just a museum! You cannot lodge there. But if you want a place to sleep wich is Dracula related, it's better to search in Sighisoara. There is the house where Vlad Tepes is supposed to have been born.

Travel Tips for Brasov
DRACULA
by alirom
If you want to find out more about Dracula or Transylvania, then this is the place. Yes, Dracula was a real prince. And yes, Transylvania does exist. They are just a part of the rich Romanian history. The following is just a brief outline of the history of the people living between the Carpathian Mountains, the Danube and the Black Sea. Due to its geographical location, Romania was always the meeting point of political and territorial interests. The Romans, and later the Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian and Russian Empires tried in turn to take over this land. This makes Romanian History particularly interesting, as the local people always stood up against foreign occupation, managing to preserve its culture and traditions.

BRASOV is surrounded like a halo by the Carpathians, being in the middle of the country at the crossroads of the Eastern Carpathians and the Southern Carpathians. Thus, it is a special place for its beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, the fresh air, the cool summers and many other things waiting to be discovered.
The citadel at Deva
by midnight_mike
The hilltop citadel of Deva is one of many abandoned fortifications throughout Romania. It was built in the 13th century A.D. and lies in ruins. To get to the top, you have to follow a path that winds up the hill. It is not paved and there are no railings. I advise wearing hiking boots. The climb is not that difficult, but it will take about 20 to 30 minutes. It is well worth the visit.
Deva, which has a population of 100,000, was once a Dacian settlement. These were the people who the Romans conquered and eventually interbred with to create Romanians. Today, Deva is known as the home of Romanian gymnastics. It is directly west of Brasov and it takes about five hours to get there by train. However, Deva is a stop on the Budapest-Bucharest train line. The town has a couple reasonably priced hotels and some good restaurants.
Local food at Coliba Haiducilor
by Nobbe about Coliba Haiducilor
This well-known and central situated restaurnat in Poiana Brasov have been serving gourmands for over 40 years. Considered to be one of the best restaurants in Romania. The Outlaws Hut serves traditional Romanian food in a wooden building near the ski slopes. Sit at one of the long wooden tables and have a second look at the decoration: guns, dried peppers and cobs of corn and lots of skins (boars, sheep, wolves and one bear). Try a tuica (plum brandy), served in a blue ceramic treetrunk and impossible to drink without spilling...
