Mother in Law visiting what to take her to see

by daileyjoy

My MIL will be here next week for a month and we plan on doing a bunch of tourist stuff. We have not had the opportunity to do a whole lot due to my husband's job taking a lot of his time. But with his mom coming he plans on taking some time off so we can show her around. I don't know if we will have time for everything and I have having trouble deciding on what to do while she is here. We have been to Poiana and Tampa but cannot decide on the rest...What are some must sees while she is here. I have looked all over the website but there is so much to do, I can't decide. Also I plan on taking her to a concert at the Black Church but couldn't find anything in English to tell us when.

Hi there
Lots of stuff to see in and around Brasov. What i would suggest is maybe heading down to the tourist office in the main square, and that will give you loads of ideas. Are you driving? Train?
I have a website you can take a look at for more ideas

Travel Tips for Brasov

Brasov at night

by HORSCHECK

When wandering around Brasov at night you will definitely notice the illuminated Hollywood style large white letters of BRASOV. They are installed at the hill Tampa at a height of about 960 m and can be seen from the Town Hall Square (Piata Sfatului).

There are some more sights which are illuminated in Brasov's old town. Among them are the Black Church and some buildings around the Old Town Hall, so a walk around Brasov in darkness is recommended.

A Medieval school

by IngaA

This school is located right beside St. Nicolas church.

It is a very interesting place indeed. And so pity that it doesn't seem to be popular. Or people just don't know about it. The guide is working there and he is a FOND of his job. When telling us about how lessons were going, what tools teachers used to explain, etc, he was almost shining.
And beside all that, a whole collection of rare medieval books is stored there. Among them was the 1st Gospel written in Cyrilic. This guy even speaks 'staroslavyanski' (old slavic) language, he was telling us some phrases.
I really advice to visit it, you won't regret. The price is very low, about 1,5 EUR.

The Carpathian Stag - CERBUL...

The Carpathian Stag - CERBUL CARPATIN
Tasting the wines from the renowned Romanian vineyards
is a unique moment of delight. The flavor of Bacchus's drink entwines in perfect harmony with the Romanian folk melos.

Definitely have to go there

by codrutz about Stana Turistica in Poiana Brasov

One of the best restaurants with local food in Romania that's for sure. Not only you can find here the best examples of the Romanian traditional dishes, from sour creams, chicken, pork and all grilled, polenta, stuffed cabbages, together with home made bread, but the fresh air of the mountains will add and make you never forget Stana Turistica. Did I grow you an appetite? Well you should go there and test my words - the best open air restaurant in Romania.

Mountain hike-the Seven Stairs

by midnight_mike

Only about a 15-minute drive from the center of Brasov, the Seven Stairs Canyon offers hikers an opportunity to see nature at one of its finest moments. Visitors to the Piatra Mare Mountains can climb ladders alongside the cascades of seven waterfalls, the tallest of which is 60-feet tall. Once you get to the top, there is an amazing view.

It is not too physically demanding, but you should be in decent physical shape if you plan to climb the ladders. I would advise wearing something other than sandals. If you fall off a ladder, you will probably be spending many weeks in the hospital.
