  • Good choice - clean, warm and nice

    by

The stay was very pleasant. The rooms are very clean, modern furnished and well heated. The breakfast is okey.

The hotel is close to the centre. About 10 minutes walking - or 2 minutes taxi driving. It's in a parallel street of the "long street".

The price was 45 € a night for the small room - including breakfast. Btw they have also a room with whirl pool! :-)

    Directions: see above.

I need some cheap accommodation.

by M.Kostalek

Hi! I'm visiting Brasov in the spring but I don't have so much money. We will be group of 3 persons. Cheapest accommodation I found was 20$/person/night. I don't need anything luxury or some nightlife. I just want CHEAP place to stay overnight.

When you know something cheaper tell me please!!

I remember from my last visitlast summer, there are (only) 2 youth hostels in Brasov. They cost around 35 to 40 Romanian Lei, which is around 11 Euro (should be no more than 15 USD, depending on current exchange rate);

One is Kismet Dao, the other is Rolling Stones; Both cannot be said to be really good but they are okay. You can check the RS website here: http://www.rollingstone.ro/

I have a travelogue about Brasov too: http://travel.saricie.com/EastEurope2/Brasov.htm

Maria Bolea offers private rooms for 10 euro per night--that was what she charged the last time i rented from her... she meets travelers at the train station and solicits them... you can check out more info on my brasov page...

Kismet Dao is a good choice, clean and the staff are really cool. Probably cost about 11 Euro a night.

Dirty cheap can be for 16 usd a person a night. Less is black market and I hate her users.

Black market? They're called entreprenuers. A room is a room. As long as it is clean, what's the difference? The Black market, as you call it, actually offers a better product for budget travelers than the legitimate hostels.

Travel Tips for Brasov

View over the city, from the “Panorama Platform”

by Fam.Rauca

If you drive to Poiana Brasov, you have the possibility, on the way, to have a rest on the Panorama Platform, and to have a look, over the whole city.

From here, you can admire the old city, situated in the middle of a green valley, at the feet of the mountains.

The historical part of the city is surrounded by the new and modern side of it.

The numerous parks an gardens of the city, the green hills and mountains that bordered the region, the many flowers and nature elements in the inside of it, make from Brasov a green place of safety.

Valea Doftanei

by monica71

Valea Doftanei (Doftanei Valley) is a small village (the pollution here is close to nothing!) close to Campina, but it can be easily accessed from Brasov or Sinaia. The Doftana Valley is very well known for the breathtaking landscape and for the Paltinu Dam (very touristy in the summer).
It is a very popular spot for hiking trips and for mountain biking. The bike path from Doftana Valley to Campina is one of the most challenging in the country.
There are several pensions in the village that make for a nice and comfortable lodging, with homey meals and very friendly pension owners. I have stayed for 2 nights at Ancuta Pension (which you can also see in the picture) and I had a great time.
If you are into fishing, there is no better spot than here!
You can get to Valea Doftanei by taking a bus from Campina or by just driving on your own.

Minibuses

by midnight_mike

When you are at the train station in Brasov, you will probably notice white fans parked outside. These microbuses, as the locals call them, offer cheap and fast transportatoin to Bucharest and other cities. If you are going to Sinaia, take one of the buses going to Bucharest as it will stop in Sinaia along the way.

The vans do not leave until they are full or near capacity. Buy a ticket as soon as you arrive at the train station and take a seat near the front of the van. There is a storage area in the back, but space is limited. If you have a lot of bags, you might have to take the train. Tickets cost a couple of dollars.

Bella Musica-a special place

by adema29 about Bella Muzica

If you are looking for intimate atmosphere, very good service, excellent food... then go to Bella Muzica .
You'll find it in an ex-cellar, right in the center of the city (near "Piatza Sfatului"). Every dish we tried there was very tasty and very well prepared.

A nice little City

by ddlucy

Brasov is a nice little City to tour around. From here you can go Bran Castle, shop around their plaza, enjoy a walk in the park - even take a gondola to the top of the mountain for a spectacular view.

It's very-very clean. We felt very safe.

If you are touring Romania - Brasov is worth 1-2 nights.

Be adventurous and try the train back to Buchurest.
