Best Hostel in Brasov!

As I've already written a review of this hostel for TripAdvisor, and I believe it appears on this site, let me just summarize why this is the top choice for hostelers in Brasov.

- Awesome staff who go above and beyond in their customer service and regional knowledge
- Extremely clean at all times, including in bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas
- Comfortable lounging is good for meeting people and relaxing
- Doesn't feel jam-packed or over-crowded (but is still popular and has lots of guests)

If I were to return to Brasov, I wouldn't consider staying at any other hostel.

Nice Hostel

The staff is friendly, rooms are clean, and they organize tours to Bran, Rasnov, Sinaia and Sighisoara. Also, one of the girls working there gave us map on which she highlighted all important places to see in Brasov.

Unique Quality: It is about 10 minutes walk from town center, and if you come by train, the bus station where the bus from train station stops is just around the corner, approx. one minute walk from hostel.

Also, a very nice restaurant with local cuisine, Casa Romaneasca, is very close to hostel.

So so hostel in Brasov

The place was recommended by lonely planet. Maria the owner is very nice and tourist oriented, she "catches" people at the train station and successfully convinces them to stay. There is not enough bathrooms in the place, really suffered from that. Breakfast does not really worth it, bread with margarine and jam. The pool wasn't working.
First night slept at the attic - was OK, second day my friends stayed on a different floor - got insect bites all over their body. Its not dusty there though...
Internet access is available for additional small charge through a single computer.
The only reason to stay there in my opinion is to meet some tourist.
Where there in July - the pool was empty.

Rolling Stone Hostel

I stayed in The Rolling Stone for four days on two seperate occasions in July 2006. I had asked the girl on reception at the Funky chicken in Bucharest to call to reserve a bed or me before I left Bucharest, so, following directions, I got bus 4 from Brasov station to the square Piata Unirii then walked the short distance to the hoster on Piatra Mare.

I was met by Diana who explained the hostel rules and what sightseeing and tourist opportunities were available in Brasov. Then offered a choice of dorm accommodation which I think cost about the equivalent of £8 in Romanian Lei per night. I chose a bed in a six person dorm, the room had toilet and shower facilities. The hostel kitchen was available for guests to use, and beer could be stored in the fridge

Unique Quality: This is, quite simply, the most welcoming hostel I have stayed in. Maria, Greg, Diana and Sylvia did everything they could to ensure that I enjoyed my stay.

Not the best place anymore

Rolling Stone Hostel was by far the best hostel I have seen in Eastern Europe. There has been a change of management though and now I would not like to stay there, its run by some barmy Romanian money grabbers.

Unique Quality: Go with Eugene instead
