"Avram Iancu" Square

Also in the centre of the city it is the Avram Iancu Square.
There, it stands the beautiful orthodox cathedral that was erected in the year 1912.
In front of the big construction, it is placed the high statue of Avram Iancu, the Romanian hero of 1848-1849.
Other important construction of this zone is the Palace of the Orthodox Episcopate for Vadu, Feleacu and Cluj, built in the year 1887
The statue of Mihai Viteazul

The rider statue of Mihai Viteazul is an important monument in Cluj-Napoca.
It is placed into the Mihai Viteazul Square and is surrounded from a small park.
The sculptor that has created the statue is Marius Butunoiu, and the monument was discovered into the year 1976.
On the Bas-relief of the foundation was shown the successes of Mihai Viteazul: the successful Turk fights and the union of the three Romanian provinces, in the year 1600.

Speed is a very popular fast food restaurant, doing kebabs, shoarma, hamburgers, snitzels and so on. Often absolutely packed at lunchtime. There is a bar in the cellar called Alcatraz, with prison cells and all.
Neologue Synagogue

The Neologue Synagogue (Sinagoga Neologa) was constructed at the end of the 19th century according to the plans of the engineer Izidor Hegner.
Before WWII there were about 5 synagogues in Cluj-Napoca, at present only the Neologue Synagogue is still active.
Directions:
The Neologue Synagogue is located at Hora Street 31. It is the street Horea Street leading from the city centre to the train station.
Muzeul de Arta (Art Museum)

Established in 1951, the Art Museum is housed by the former Banffy Palace, a late Baroque palace with some Viennese Rococo elements, built between 1774-1785 by the German architect Johann Eberhard Blaumann. The exhibitions include icons, Persian carpets, Oriental weapons, mediaeval tools and furniture as well as works by Romanian and foreign painters and sculptors.
The Romanian modern art collection (organised by the art critic Virgil Cioflec) includes works by Nicolae Grigorescu, Stefan Luchian, Theodor Pallady, Stefan Dimitrescu, Nicolae Tonitza, Francisc Sirato, Nicolae Darascu, Iosif Iser, Jean Al. Steriadi, Lucian Grigorescu, Dimitrie Paciurea, Cornel Medrea.
