Romanian currency: Leu (RON)
by HORSCHECK
Although Romania joined the European Union (EU) on the 1st of January 2007, they don't have the Euro as currency.
Romania is planning to join the Eurozone in 2014.
Since the 1st of July 2005 the official Romanian currency is the Leu (Plural: Lei), which is divided into 100 Bani. The ISO code for Lei is RON (Romanian New Lei).
Before this date the curreny was also called Leu, but had four more 0, which means 1 new Lei equals 10.000 old Lei. The ISO code for the old Lei was ROL (Romanian Lei).
You can get your Romanian money with a credit or debit card from cash points or just by exchanging your local money at one of the bureaux de change.
Huedin
by Aitana
Huedin is a town in Judetul Cluj, on the way to Oradea. The town was founded in the Middle Ages. From 1330 up until 1848, the landlords of the town were the Bánffy family. In 1526, Huedin became part of the Principality of Transylvania.
A beautiful Gothic Reformed Church, built in the 13th century, is the main touristic objective of Huedin.

Nowadays the building is home to a visual arts institute.

The Matthias Corvinus house can be found at the corner of the streets Matei Covin and Virgil Fulicea, right in the heart of the old town.
Lucian Blaga National Theatre
by HORSCHECK
Probably my favourite building in Cluj-Napoca is the Lucian Blaga National Theatre (Teatrul National Lucian Blaga).
The neobaroque theatre was constructed between 1904 and 1906 by the famous Austrian architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer, who among other buildings also designed the Theatre of Music and Drama in Chernivtsi (UA).
The National Theatre is also home to the Romanian Opera.
Directions:
The National Theatre is located at the northern side of the Piata Stefan cel Mare, just opposite to the Orthodox Cathedral, which can be found in the middle of the Piata Avram Iancu.

Eroilor Avenue
by Aitana
Eroilor Avenue is a central avenue connecting the Avram Iancu and Unirii squares. The northern side of the avenue is now a pedestrian zone.
There are many nice old buildings. This is a commercial avenue, with banks and shops.
