The Ovidiu Square
by Fam.Rauca
The Ovidiu Square is an important part of the old centre of Constanta.
Here is a pleasure to walking by day or by night.
The middle point of the square is the Archaeological Museum and the statue of Ovidius that is placed at front of it.
The Great Mosque is placed also into the square.
Here there is also the Roman Edifice with Mosaic, an important objective of Constanta.
Many restaurants and bars, banks, and other important attractions, there are on the place.
The Ovidius Square has an extraordinary fascination for all the travelers that come here everyday.
Cetatea Histria - Old Roman center
by DSwede
If you drive ~45minutes north of Constanta, and follow the coast line, you will eventually come to Cetatea Histria. Its hard to go much further since the road ends.
This is an ancient site of the Roman capital of the region. It was a vital hub of agriculture, trade and patrol of the the Black Sea.
Its not huge, but definately not crowded. You can walk around and see everything in ~1.5hrs.

I loved that place. It is a wonderful garden with a Dolphinarium, Micropreserve, Planetarium and a building with exotic birds. We watched a show with tulles and they were really amazing.
The taxes are 9 lei for Dolphenarium, 4 lei for Micropreserve, 10 for Planetarium and 3 for the birds. Students tickets – half price.
Constanta

Constanta (350,000) is the 2nd largest port in Europe, and 9th largest in the world, making it one of Romania’s most important cities. Each entrance to the city has a coast guard ship next to the road as a welcome symbol.
Constanta was Turkish for 100 years (until 1877) and they have a Turkish minority and a mosque.
