Hotel Splendid rated 4* delivers 2*

The hotel is on the Siutghiol lake, but no amenities are available at the lake shore.In order to reach the beach at the sea, one has to cross a ver busy, 4 lane road, with no stop light.The hotel does not have its own beach (as many other hotels have), does not offer any complimentary umbrellas, chairs, towels. (as many other hotels do).The hotel has very few ammenities to be rated 4*.It has no gym, no pool, no tennis/basket courts. The restaurant design is very "minimalist", very much like a cafeteria. It has a small outdoor terrace, that has no cooling (e.g. msiting, very common in other places around).The rooms were nicely appoined, but the couch was of very low quality.It was supposed to be used as a bed for the third person, but we could not sleep on it. There was no antislip mat in the shower, and we couldn't get one.The elevator was out of service the day we came.It was restarted temporarily, for us to reach our apartment on the last floor; one of us though, did not "catch " that ride, so that this lady in her sixties, had to climb all those many stairs, with a lot of luggage; the hotel personnel ( that were also our waiters) helped.The breakfast buffet had high quality deli, very few prepared hot items, and very expensive $25/person/day).There was very little/outdated information about the events, restaurants, etc.The personnel were not informed, either. Not a 4STAR place. More like a 2.

Unique Quality: The hotel is very clean. The view of sunsets over the lake were great.
The personnel was trying their best to help, but they were either inexperienced, or lacking any initiative. The couch was very unconfortable; it was we , not the staff, that came with several suggestions to fix it . They were very prompt though to implement our suggestions.
To "compensate" for the "elevator episode", the hotel sent my friend a fruit basket and a champagne bottle. For all personnel at Splendid: you were nice, but the hotel disappointed!
