Iaki, Hotel Bucuresti: Luxury in Mamaia
Hotel Iaki (former Hotel Bucuresti) is a marvellous hotel by the Black Sea. I stayed there in June 2005. There weren't many customers around then and that's because it was early season. It was certainly not the cheapest hotel but definitely different from those ugly looking Soviet-style hotels around it. It was clean and rooms were spacious. Bathroom was very comfortable. Views were great even though there was a small balcony in some rooms -two persons couldn't sit there together. There wasn't a safety box in the room. You had to take your valuables to an envelope stored in reception ;) Location was good, there were several restaurants near the hotel. The pool area was nice and you could see the Black Sea while lying there.
Still I warmly recommend Hotel Iaki!

Iaki hotel: Luxury 5 ***** Hotel In Mamaia
IAKI Hotel is located in Mamaia, a resort in the northern part of the Romanian Black Sea Coast, being one of the largest resorts in the country.
Placed in the heart of the resort, only 20 m away from the beach, the former Bucharest Hotel was taken over in 1999 by the great Romanian football player, Gica Hagi. Immediately after considerable investments and a modernising program, it was brought to higher standards. Thus, 2 years later, on the 4th of July, 2001, a brand new 4 stars hotel rose on the map of Mamaia resort- IAKI Hotel.
Unique Quality: The excellent setting of the hotel with its sea side or lake view, the fine gold sanded beach which is caressed day and night by the sea-breeze, the crystal clear waters of the Black Sea, the relaxing and exclusive atmosphere are only a few elements that transform our hotel into a special location.

Hotel Park: Not a recommended one....
I absolutely hated this hotel.
On the outside it looks fantastically good but once you get to your room.. it is another thing.
To start with, it is quite dated and not very clean. Dogs are allowed in the rooms and after one night in the hotel I had to swap room because I got a nasty skin rash which looked a lot like flea bites.
I cannot prove it of course but I moved to another room, just in case.
And then... the big storm came and the electrics of the hotel got wet ( no one to blame about that, the water reached some 30 cm) and all the lights went off from 8.00 pm to 9.00 am more or less, which is not very nice if your room is on the 7th floor as mine was :-( In the end you just get used to it and, what the heck ! we are young and sporty people ! The nights were the best moment, because then the children would go running in the corridors yelling "I am Dracula" and you could emulate a character of a scry movie yourself by ghostly lingering up and down the stairs with your candle (provided by reception). Good fun inthe end, really :-)
One of the most vivid souvenirs of this hotels I have got in my mind is the image of the aquarium the day we left. As you can imagine the filters and the heating had gone busted with the electricity cuts and all the poor fishes were floating belly up... and I think that was the last thing I saw as I was heading through the exit. Not a merry one...
Unique Quality: If you go here make sure you get a room in an elevated floor as the views are a lot better.
You can see Mamaia Beach which is a very nice sight.
Bathrooms are not very updated but are clean.
If you are given the option between a 2 star or 3 star rooms, get the 2*. The only difference between the two categories is that the 3* has got a little fridge (empty, for the record). And it is a bit more expensive, of course...
