Motel Dasiana: Friendly Place
We stay here often. The staff are friendly; the rooms tiny but clean; there is wireless internet. Request AC for summer visits. Parking in back.
Unique Quality: This motel is on the Jiu River and a short walk across the bridge from the park with sculptures by Constantin Brancusi.
The motel restaurant has a small selection of simple but delicious food.

Hotel Anabell: Bring an Extra Blanket!
Both times we stayed here, we were desperate. The first time was okay, as it was summer. The motel isn't new and the furnishings aren't either. Parking on the street. No internet or AC.
The second time was in January, during one of the coldest weeks of the winter of 2011-12. Our room had one, one-person-sized blanket and very little heat. Brrrrr. And it didn't seem as clean that time either.
Breakfast was cooked by the desk clerk and was very good.
Unique Quality: This motel has a good location, five or ten minute walk from Targu Jiu's pretty main walking street. There is a restaurant on the ground floor.
