A Comfortable Hotel, at a Comfortable Price
Iasi is a splendid university town, with a friendly atmosphere and stunning architecture. While I was invited to guest lecture at a symposium in Iasi, the organizers put me up at the Hotel Astoria, "In the heart of the city," as their tag line reads. It is a three star hotel which was in fact quite comfortable. I was placed in a two bedroom "apartment" suite. It possesses all the necessary amenities one would expect of a three star hotel. The shower had excellent water pressure and hot water. Now certainly one would assume that any "three star" hotel would meet such simple standards. Unfortunately the sad fact is that it isn't always the case here in Romania. Nevertheless, the suite was adequate and I had the other room available to entertain guests and hold meetings. Unfortunately, it's fairly upscale and quite pricy to be included under "budget travel." However, if your business travels take you to the city or if you are traveling in a party of three or four, do look into the Hotel Astoria.
As advertised it is located "in the heart of the city."
