Castel Bran "Tuesday to Sunday 9am to 5pm and until 4pm from October to April" (see http://www.wordtravels.com/Attractions/Countries/Romania/Attractions/Bran+Castle/ )

Castel Peles - "Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 4pm (June to September). From October to May the castle is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and for the whole month of November " (see http://www.wordtravels.com/Attractions/Countries/Romania/Attractions/Peles+Castle/ )

In italiano (poi a citi acesta?): Castele Bran: aperto martedi a domenica, (chiuso lunedi), 09:00 a 17:00, e chiude a 16:00 da ottobre a aprile.
Castele Peles: aperto martedi a domenica (giugno a settembre) da 10:00 a 16:00 (chiuso lunedi). Ottobre a maggio, il castello e' chiuso lunedi e martedi, e il castello e' anche chiuso tutto il mese di novembre.

Travel Tips for Sinaia

Cable car

by Mr_Furious

From the city center you can take the cable car up the mountains from where you can get a good view and breath in some clean, fresh air. Watching Korea beat Italy on the WC 2002. I thought the romanian would support their Roman brothers, but after the South-Korean Golden Goal a small party was started.

Skiing in Sinaia!

by roomania

Sinaia is often referred to as a "ski town", although from experience, the locals tend to ski Predeal or Poiana Brasov, but opt to stay in Sinaia, which I believe is better known for its 'apres ski', with many bars and pubs.

Float away...... Slanic salty swimming pool

by Nemoa

This is something I don't suppose you find in tourists brochures because all the people I found here were local Romanians.

Some Romanian friends of us took is to Slanic, in the surroundings of Campina, to this swimming pool which is excavated in a mine salt.

The water comes off the rock very warm and with such a concentration of salt that you have no need whatsoever to swimm. You just float as if you were in the Dead Sea!

It is a very relaxing feeling and don't even try to swimm! You just can't.

Don't put your head underwater either! :-)

Lots of locals and people from other areas come to this health centre to relieve reumathic pains and skin conditions.

You can have your own BBQ here provided you bring your food and you can even enjoy a little massage!

I had a 45 minutes massage for the equivalent in lei of 1,50 GBP. A real treat....

This place is outside Campina,a town about 30 minutes drive from Sinaia on the E60.

Royal Palace-Peles Palace

by marinas

This is one of the best-preserved royal palaces in Europe. It served as the summer residence of the first Hohenzollern king of Romania, Carol I. Built in the latter half of the 19th century, it was the king's attempt to imitate the styles of his former homeland, creating a Bavarian setting in the mountains of Romania. The palace is ornately decorated, inside and out, with intricate wood carvings and paintings of scens form Wagner operas. Tours in English are available upon request.

Peles castle.

by Dizzyhead

The Peles castle is situated near Sinaia and it was built between 1873 and 1914 in Neo-Renaissance style. The cost of the project to build this castle is about 120 000 million US dollars. Between three and four hundred men worked constinently on the construction of the castle. After King Mihael´s abdication in 1947 the Communist Party seized all Royal property and in 1953 it was declared to be a museum. Between 1975 to 1990 Nicolae Ceausescu closed this area for normal people. After the revolution 1989 many things changed it became a Royal castle again. In 2006 it became a museum again . The castle has over 170 rooms and more then 30 toilettes. Many of therooms are built in different styles like Florentine, Turkish, Moorish, French and Imperial. The collection of arms in the castle includes more then 4000 pieces.

In the entrance you have a statue of King Carol I by Raffaello Romanelli.

Pele castle also have one of the finess and most important painting collections in Europe, almost 2000 pieces in this collection.

Each year in November the castle is closed to the public for the whole month, during which time is used by the owners.

When you get inside here, you have to pay extra for your camera and video camera, if you want to take pictures. But it can be worth it. Many beauitful things to take pictures at.
