See the parks of Timisoara....

See the parks of Timisoara. The city was named the city of parks or of roses. The parks are really silent and nice.
Visit the Park of Roses. especially in the summer time roses are all over the place and you can feel the sweet smell in the air.
The Central Park is very nice for its big trees which can give a cool shadow in the heat of the day.
Walk on the river's side. Trees and benches make your walk very pleasant. And if you want a romantic evening it's a good place: music coming from the open pubs, lights mirrores in the water, the sound of the river flowing ... it's just perfect.
The Holy Trinity Monument

In the middle of Unirii Square, you'll find this nice monument of the Holy Trinity and a mineral water well. You'll also see people filling up their plastic bottles with this water, which they then take home.
Irina in Tara Hategului
by Irina
For the moment, there's nothing about Timisoara on this page. Timisoara just happened to be the only city on VT's list close enough (about 150 km!) to Bucova - the "capital" of my vacation in 2002.
If you want to see and read about the wonderful landscapes and monuments of the Hateg area I have visited, I'm preparing a long and rich travelogue for you.
It will include:
- Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa - the ruins of the ancient Roman capital of the Dacian territories, one of the amazing archaeological sites I have ever seen;
- ancient churches with great architectural and cultural values: Densus, Strei, Santa Marie - Orlea, Colt;
- castles and fortresses with their history and legends Hunyady's castle in Hunedoara, Candea's Santa Marie - Orlea, Colti fortress;
- wonderful landscapes - Valea Marului, Colti, Valea Jiului, Bucova and more;
- ancient, interesting, genuine objects of popular art.
Wow! What a long list for only one week! I highly recommend this trip to anyone interested:
Bucuresti - Craiova - Targu-Jiu - Petrosani - Hateg - Sarmizegetusa - Bucova.
Stay in a nice pension and explore the area; see at least the places I have seen. I promise it will be a great experience!
Just as an apetizer, here's the Renaissance loggia of the Hunyady castle.
Stay close: there's a lot to come!
