Getting from TSR to NOVI SAD, SERBIA

by OllyChalmers

Hello I am attending Exit Festival this year in Serbia and am flying into Timisoara airport in Romania. I have found that you can train from Timisoara to Belgrade.. but then how easy and possible is it to get from there to Novi Sad where the festival is located? Thanks in advance.

The Festival is located at Petrovaradin Fortress in the Old part of N Sad, overlooking the Danube.
If you are camping, there are designated camping grounds, all info can be obtained from the Exit ofitial boots doted around town.
From Temisoara you can get train or bus.
chek:www.belgrade.org
00381 11 360-28-99 for train info

For Novi Sad useful website here:

Train from Temisoara is going via Vrshac.
From Belgrade you can get bus or train to Novi Sad.
For bus time table chek:

You mean how to get from Timisoara to Novi Sad directly, without passing through Belgrade? That's rather complicated - first you have to go by train or bus from Timisoara to Jimbolia (a small town right next to the Serbian border), then use one of the two daily cross border trains from Jimbolia to Kikinda (in Serbia) and finally catch a bus from Kikinda to Novi Sad.

But this will probably take longer than going through Belgrade, so it's better to go that way.

Note that there is just one daily train between Timisoara and Belgrade, it leaves from Timisoara at 5.50AM and arrives in Belgrade around 9AM.
For buses on the Timisoara-Belgrade route check

(apparently they also have a direct transfer by bus to the Exit festival, but it's not very clear from where).

Travel Tips for Timisoara

Best time to visit the city

by outofoffice

Timisoara is a beautiful city, but there are a few times during the year when it just looks incredible.

In spring, the magnolias on both sides of the Bega river blossom. During summer it gets hot, but the Rose Park is a perfect place to take a break. Fall is great for those who love to wander around the old streets. If you manage to arrive in the city during winter and while there's snow - you will be amazed. However, snow doesn't last long around here.

No matter which time of the year you pass by, if there is a festival going on you should give it a try. To find out what's going out in the city visit the Tourist Information Office (you can find it on Alba Iulia street - the little street linking Victory Square and Liberty Square).

This charming square's surrounded by colourful 18th and 19th-century buildings, including the Catholic Dome, the Baroque Palace, the Serbian Church and the monument of the Holy Trinity and a mineral water well.

Timisoara

The first real travel destination in Romania for me and Stinker was Timisoara.

One of the remarkable things about Timisoara is that it has so many piata's and parks. Which makes it a very nice and pleasant city to be in. Especially when the sun is shining!

On the surface there isn't much to be seen of the 1989 revolution. There are of course the little church where the revolution began, the bullet holes in the cathedral and the memorials erected. But for the rest Timisoara looks like any other city. Full with people going on about their business. Until you ask people about the revolution. They still do remember.
