Re: from budapest to timisora-ticket price

Timisoara is in Romania, by the way - I am sure you know it, and it was just a typo.

For one-way:

1) Go LJ to BG with €29 special (buy in SLO or SRB only)
2) Buy BG-Timisoara for ca. €11 or so (in SRB or RO only)

one-way will be ca. €40, r/t the double.

Compare with:

1) LJ to BP same €29 special (buy in SLO)
2) BP to Timisoara €34.80 regular price (anywhere), €36 round-trip (only if you buy in HU)

For going round-trip: BP is cheaper than BG and easier to arrange:

1) Go LJ to BG with €39 special for round-trip (buy as r/t in SLO)
2) BP to Timisoara €36 round-trip (buy in Hungary!)

Total: €75

yes, gyuri is right. go to belgrade and from there you have one train daily in the afternoon around 3 or 4 'o clock i think which goes to timisoara. you should arrive there ca. 10 'o clock in the evening.

i give you the advice to look under your seat in your compartment. the romanian border patrol checked our whole compartment and smuggling seemed very common to me on this route. at least from RO to SRB. so just check if there's nothing hidden under your seat.

Travel Tips for Timisoara

Metropolitan Cathedral

by puuma

You can't miss the Metropolitan Cathedral because it is the landmark of Timisoara. The cathedral was built between 1936 and 1946 and has a capacity of over 4000 people.
This narrow brick church mixes Byzantine style with Moldovian influences.

The church has a tall dome at the center. In the basement is a display of the 16th to 19th century icons ob wood and glass, beautifully preserved medieval stained glass, as well as books and other church objects.

No admission free. Open daily 6:00 am - 8:00 pm. Basement collection 9:00 am- 5.00 pm.

Beer!

by puuma

Don't forget to taste Romanian beer, Timisoreana;-). The best place to do it is Unirii square. Other traditional Romanian beers are Ursus (the most famous, from 1879), Bucegi and Neumarkt.
The Romanian beer is known in Central and Eastern Europe for its taste and little price.

Timisoara - A City Of Five Stars

by edvin_br

"My Favorite City"

Timisoara is located in western part of Romania that called Banat region. In this city there are Romanians, Hungarians, Serbians and more.
The city is one of the most cleanest and nicest in the country. It is one of the biggest too, popolution of almost 350,000 people and there are also a lot of students in the city. The city is full of parks and gardens... i saw a lot that were located in the way of gara de nord that is the cities main railway station (there is another 3) to the city center.
The city as a lot of atracctions like the Unirii square, the Liberty square and the Victory square. There are plenty of accomodation options for any kind of service... from 1 star to 4.
You can do in the city shopping too because there are pretty good shops especially in city Center.
Timisoara is famous about the Revulotion in 1989 that started in the city and you can see in the city some memorials to the victims. The ways to get to the city is or by car; a lot of International roads are getting to Timisoara, you can get also by train, the city has a pretty big and not the most clean and beautiful station in the region but there are a lot of trains that getting there, also International trains and also Nationals.in Timisoara not like other cities in romania there is almost no gypcies that can butter you. These are the basic things about Timisoara but there is a lot more.

"Timisoaras Architecture - The Little Vienna"

Timisoara has an amazing Architecture. The city Center, especially the victory square as a lot of huge old building that remainds me of Vienna in some way. There is the Metropolin church, the Opera, some hotels and a lot of interesting buildings. there Square is also very big, with parks, fountains, shops and a lot of tourists. There is in Timisoara other kind of architecture too... like the pretty old buliding (but renovated) in Unirii square... there are also some new banks, hotels and office buildings that also look very good in the cities skyline.

"A Gate To The West"

Timisoara is a very big city and a very importent historic, economic, financial, cultural and scientific center. The region is one of the most devaloped in the country and has a lot to offer. There are a lot of investors in the area that invested already milions of dollars, there are also a lot of tourists in the region because of its beauty and great history.
