Romanian Government
by gosiaPL
This is the Victoria Palace (Palatul Victoriei) which now houses the Romanian government but was build in 1937 as the seat of the Foreign Ministry.
I have the impression that any building big enough can be called a "palace" in Bucharest. Can anyone explain why? Personally, I don't see anything particularly exceptional in this building... other than its address in Victory Sq.
Grand name but why the "palace"...? :-o
Candle cabinets at Stavropoleos Church
by gosiaPL
A completely different idea for candle lighting just outside the Stavropoleos Church.
I've never seen such little cabinets, good protection from wind and rain. Just as at the Patriarchal Cathedral, also here people were coming in to light a candle and say a little prayer in the church.
Baba Novac neighborhood
by kek4la
This is from another of the dull neighborhoods full of tall apartment buildings.
Still, I like how this tall building apears when one takes the 70 or 79 line downtown.
I have to say these neighborhoods look much better in the summer, when there is a lot of vegetation.

Public transport
by josephescu
Public transport is cheap (1,2lei/ride). one ticket is used for every surface bus you get in, notwithstanding how many stations. In orther words, if you need to change 3 buses, 3 tickets. Better take a taxi!
Buses and trams are more frequent and serve most areas, but in peak hours can become so full they resemble a cattle truck.
The subway system is fairly civilised but slow and not comprehensive.
