Romania passed through a difficult transition period between the Ceasescu's dictatorship and Iliescu first government. The 'revolution', which began in the blood in Timisoara (North-West) spilled all over the country in a very confused series of battles, where the fighting parties were no clear at all. The picture shows the former headquarters of the Romanian Communist Party, where Ceasescu tried to deliver his last speech, while being boohed by the people.
In the left corner, a small building may be noticed: it remained unrepaired as it is considered a permanent symbol of those bloddy days. The building is supposed to be one of the hidden places where the secret police (Securitate) brought the people.

by draguza about Grand Cafè Galleron
You can find this place right in the center of Bucharest, in a beautiful neighbourhood, at, 18A Nicolae Golescu Street, in a walking distance from the Athenaeum Concert Building, the National Theatre of Bucharest.
Placed in an old villa, the traditional Romanian architecture surprises everybody who sets foot in this Grand Cafe. Every room has its own charm and gives the possibility to meet friends or business partners in a WiFi Internet environment, with a high level of privacy.
The bar team probably has the best selection of drinks in town and the kitchen offers elegant, fresh high quality food.
Taxi
by violeta13
Taxis in Bucharest are cheap, as long as you take a taxi that has an association with a trusted taxi company. Private taxis are expensive, and can be dangerous, as drivers are simply not to be trusted.
You should allways make sure that any taxi you get in clearly displays the name and phone number of the company it belongs to!
