Bucharest Financial Plaza
Hi there,
I plan to visit Romania in August to go on a hiking tour. I have booked my own flights, but have not yet booked to put a bag in the hold.
I have bought a pair of walking poles, and I only yesterday realised they would not be allowed in my cabin baggage.
I bought the pair of poles cheaply, at http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/walking-pole-p150884
But I was just wondering if anyone might know if buying this one piece of equipment will be cheaper in Bucharest? I don't want to have to pay a checked bag fee if I can get a pair of walking poles for under £15 in Bucharest.
What do people think?
Nick
Yes, you'll find it & cheaper than the UK! And, it would be for a better price than Bucharest in the town where you're considering the hike!!
In the capital, there are some decent outdoor gear outlets off Universitatii Placa. Get there via the metro.
Off to see Bran Castle in the Carpathian mountains??

Bucharedt Financial Plaza is one of the first modern A class office buildings built in the city (at the middle of the 90's) and still keeps a high reputation and very high standards.
The shiny high (about 70m.) building is situated at Calea Victoriei, at the cities historical center so it dominates the view of the all area.
From November till late January several skating rinks are opened across the city. They're not huge (except for the one in Cismigiu Park) but they're fun to go to around Christmas time. Concerts, contests and skating classes (in the morning) are organized by the administrators.
And, of course, you can warm up with a cup (or maybe more) of hot wine with cinnamon.
The entrance is avrries between 2,5 euros during the week and 4 euros during the weekend. The program usually starts at 9 AM and lasts until 12 PM (or 2 AM before Christmas and New Year's). Check the schedule as a skating programs lasts 1,5h or 2 and then there's half an hour break to repair the ice.
Locations:
Cismigiu Park (on Regina Elisabeta Bvd ), one bus station away from University Square
Unirii Square - downtown
And more off the beaten path: Floreasca Park, Herastrau Park and Moghioros Bring your own skating boots or you can rent from there: 4 euros for 2 hours.
Feeria Shopping Gallery is one of the favorite shopping place. It is located north of Bucharest, on the road to Otopeni airport. This is a part of a bigger project - www.baneasa.ro - it is known mostly for the shopping gallery but for the big Carrefour hyper market as well. Pretty crowded on the road, in the parking and at the counters in weekends, but if you gotta go you gotta go :)
Have a pool or bowling game at IDM Regie. Best pool tables in town. Drinks and nice athmosphere. Beside pool, bowling and ping-pong games, IDM Regie is also a great fitness center, well equiped and with relaxing facilities (sauna, pool, whirpools, massage). Casual
