Excellent value 3 star hotel

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on March 19, 2013

Located main square in the citadel diagonally opposite the Clock Tower entrance to the square, so full marks for location.

The hotel has 22 double/twin rooms, 5 deluxe suites, 5 single rooms all with antique (and aging!) saxon furniture. A basic though adequate self-service breakfast (included in the price) is served on the ground floor in a “gothic” style dining room.

Our room was large, clean and quiet and the bed reasonably comfortable. Our very limited interaction with staff resulted in no issues but they are not of the pampering type – If you seek that go elsewhere.

Highly recommended three star hotel. If I were returning I wouldn't bother looking elsewhere.

Excellent value at Eur36 (in late 2011) for a double. This rate includes a 10% discount, given if you stay as Hotel Casa Wagner in both Sighisoara and Brazov as we did.

Directions: Right on the Citadel square - Perfect location

Old Nobleman's House

A neat old place in the walled citadel, right on the square. The staff are helpful and the buffet breakfast delicious. We were there in December, almost the only guests in that off season, and they gave us the best room in the hotel for the price of a normal room.

Unique Quality: The hotel restaurant serves wonderful food. Sit by the window for a view of the old clock tower.

Directions: In the walled city

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)

There's a few things that let this hotel down, but only one was annoying enough to spoil my stay: mosquitoes. Not entirely the hotel's fault, but the constant bites were unpleasant, as was being woken up in the middle of the night by a high pitched buzzing. It also wasn't pleasant to have to keep the windows closed on warm, muggy evenings.

Don't get me wrong: it wasn't a plague of them, just a few, but they kept coming. I have no idea where from. The rest of the hotel is great, especially its central location, the large, clean room, the cool courtyard, nice views and the comfy bed. It's also very good value. It only requires that you buy bug spray the first day you are there (the hotel would do well to supply a can for you).

But that's the other problem with the hotel. The staff are ok, and the service is acceptable, but they aren't particularly friendly or helpful. There's no effort to go the extra mile, or to think about things like "oh there's mosquitoes in here and that will be unpleasant for the guests - let's fix it." And these were big mosquitoes too.

If there had been a can of bug spray in the room on day one, this place would have got 4 or 5 stars from me...

Directions: If you can find your way to the central square of the citadel, you will find the hotel easily on one corner of it.

Romanian Delight

Why this place is not here yet is amazing. The rooms and big and the price is managable even if you are on a budget. for 45 USD my room had two twin beds, a separate sitting room and a shower/bathtub that even my 6' 2" butt could fit in.

Unique Quality: The LP say's this place may be among the best in the entire country. They could be right.
Breakfast is included in the room price and it is right in the middle of the picturesq city centre.

Directions: Right in the middle of the historic centre

As most of the places in Sighisoara, Casa Wagner is unique too. You won't find two identical rooms and the gothic architecture and the authentic saxon furniture takes u back in time to the counts' and contesses' mysterious times.

Unique Quality: Great place to stay, eat and listen to music :)

Directions: Leave the Clock Tower behind you and turn left after 300 metres.

A Comfortable And Friendly Atmosphere

We only spent one night at the Casa Wagner but we were impressed by the wonderful service there. The staff was very kind and also friendly and the food was so appetising. The room was beautifully furnished in rustic style with a cable TV and we also had a lovely bathroom. The room was also impeccably clean. I would highly recommend this hotel as it is very central and offers anything a tourist would be looking for.

Directions: Walk past Clock Tower and Vlad Dracul House restaurant and turn first corner on the right finding the "Piata" Cetatii.

This is a beautiful hotel. It was recommended by someone. Each of the rooms are different and very nicely appointed. The furniture was lovely. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pub in the basement was really neat.
