Churin Hotel (?????? ?????????): Very good small hotel in Blagoveshchensk

We stayed here on our second adoption trip and really appreciated a lot of the extras at this hotel. It is a 2 story hotel complex located in downtown Blagoveshchensk and is convenient to shopping and the Amur Riverfront. The room we stayed in was modest in size, but included a refridg, TV and telephone. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet at night for sleeping. The 2nd floor hallway was filled with potted plants and had windows overlooking the back courtyard. It was a cheerful place to go on cloudy cold days. Some of the staff spoke some English, which was helpful, as my Russian is not good. The hotel complex included a fast food take out store in the "Amurskiy Passazh" on the south end where you could buy very reasonably priced tasty hot Russian meals. There was also a Chinese Resturaunt across the parking lot that had good food and featured the option of take out or dining in. You could have laundry done by the hotel, but this was not cheap, so try to work out some other laundry arrangement if you can. A prodmag (small grocery store) was located directly across Shevchenko Street from the hotel parking lot. An Apteka or pharmacy is located about 1/2 block north of the prodmag. Fresh baked goods are available from a bakery nearby just east of the corner of Pioneerskaya and Zeiskaya, about a block away through the alley in back of the Churin. Places to convert Dollars to Rubles (obman valuti) are also available nearby, with one in a bank near the bakery along Pioneerskaya, just east of the hotel near the alley. An Internet cafe is located 1 block west of Shevchenko on Zeiskaya St. I would recommend this hotel.

While our room (#7) had its own shower cube, the hotel also had a bath house on the north end, which was really appreciated when the city took the municipal hot water system down for the twice annual 5-day maintenance. The changing room in the bath house reminded me of scenes from Dr. Zhivago. We were able to take hot showers most nights, when hot water was a rarity in the city.

Breakfast is available as part of fhe price and is eaten in a small dining area at the north end of the hotel on the ground floor.

The Churin is located behind a local police station (militsia), so it is definitely a quiet and safe place to stay.
